To be proud of.
If you are a bit bored or fed up with modern youth watch this fantastic lad. Warning you can lose hours watching this restoration. I absolutly love this....

He has just uploaded the latest video, I'm trying to save it for later (y)

Can't see too much of her, gaff rigged ? looks very similar to the Falmouth boat , the oyster bed worker boats in Falmouth.

One was recued from South Georgia Islands a few years ago so they definately got about a bit.

Beautiful classic lines on her, hope the young bloke gets to sail her All power to his elbow!!

Oh he will, he was bosun on adix a big three masted schooner. I just watched episode 78 they are on the planking now, brilliant.

Reminds me of the restoration(not as extensive) of "Evaine" an Americas Cup Class 12m (Rating not length) built by Camper & Nicholson in 1936.

She had suffered an engine fire which had destroyed some ribs and planking. She was bought by Graeme Godfrey a shopkeeper in Jersey for £2,750 in the '60s. He was ex-RN Officer and lifelong sailor He got her seaworthy and sailed to Jersey, but could not afford an engine. I was invited to be crew and maintenance skivvie, with still a lot of work to do including re-seaming the decks.

We eventually got her race-fit, and entered her at Cowes Week. Graeme was a quiet skipper and the only commands were short and sharp - 'Tack!'. The peak was winning the Class One Britannia Cup and almost taking the New York in the same week.

I still remember Graeme's face after the race as we sailed past The Squadror - 'This bunch of amateurs with one suit of sails' besting Class One. I too was proud to be part of the crew and it is still emotional for me to recount Graeme's achievement. Even with my minor role it is one of the best things in my life.

Graeme was of course invited to the presentation dinner on the Sat at the Royal yacht Squadron. He was adamant he did not want to mix with 'those toffs', so we had to get him a bit drunk, shoved him into a borrowed dinner jacket, with invitation stuffed in his pocket, and shoved him through the arch of The Squadron.

He was seated opposite HRH Duke of Edinburh and next to Uffa Fox, famous yacht designer, and he had the evening of his life. It was a great achievement for a great man, from buying a wreck to that win.

I wish the best of luck to this 'Young Englishman' [Not named in OP]. I hope he has equal achievment with 'Tally Ho'
