I am thinking of buying a Uk made PVC for two with an u shaped rear lounge ( i.e. big beds). The manufacturers ( and initial models) I am considering based on the discussions here are : Wildax - Europa, Vantage - Neo, IH 600 Rl/Rd, Consort - Kite. There maybe others.

Unfortunately, we haven't seen many to try - that will be next year. We did see a Wildax and the rear cushions seemed VERY firm and not like a bed. A good night's sleep is high on our list!

So my question is whether this is typical (have to put up with it) or can you from your experience recommend a PVC that has a comfortable matress/cushion in the u shaped lounge (longitudinal) configuration? Thanks!

We have a Wildax Europa, we use a mattress topper in a duvet cover on top of the seat bases then have a duvet over the top. We find it very comfortable to sleep on though we do both prefer a firm mattress in the house also so it may be too hard if you like a softer base.

Not sure this will help, but a comfortable bed for a good night's sleep is an absolute top priority for us.

Having had various touring caravans with 'make-up' beds, sleeping on daytime seating is a no-no for us these days.

Our motorhomes have all had purpose designed fixed beds, the current pvc has large twins (which can be converted to a giant double).

But everybody is different in terms of requirements. Hope you can find what you are looking for.

Our first (post conversion) van had a rear lounge. We found it to be awkward to use and uncomfortable to sleep in. So I made the bed permanent, put a proper mattress on it and gained a load of storage.

Me too..

My first van had a rear lounge had a dinette seats which were a pain to make up! Only time we ever used them as seats was when it finally died and we spent 6hours in Durham services!

Second van has a raised bed 30" high with large garage!

Cheers James

Do you use these for the lounge cushions too? Just wondering how you live with them.

Use the two small cushions as backrests( we often sit lengthways, ) long cushion is stored underseat.
Its always a juggle unless you go fixed

We use duvalay topper, on our dinnetts which makes into a double, then also have long side bench , so can use single duvalay sleeping bag, got that at Go Outdoors in the sale, extra 10% off being a member of either club, c&Cc also C&MC
Good luck

When we had our van conversion the bed was made up from the lounge benches so we bought a cheap mattress topped from a pound shop type of place.
We still use it with our rear lounge coach build that also uses the lounge benches as part of the bed. The topper isn’t very thick so rolls up small enough to fir in the over cab locker.
