Hi anybody , with a motorhome watch the T.O.Y. cyle race on the side of the road last year.? We don’t expect to be the same as the TDF where you can

stay any where so long as your wheels are not on the tarmac!

Last year was it possible to stay on the side of road ( for the race and overnight)?

Answer in one word, NO.

You have to be joking the East Riding Soviet Directorate, are big on moving genuine Motorhomers. (they leave the Pie Keys alone though) No overnighting anywhere (legally) except on sites (Owned by Councillors. nudge nudge, wink wink,).

Its ridiculous last time campsites along the route were charging incredible prices, talk about supply and demand being taken to the limit.

Same thing happened when they had the TDF in Yorkshire. We hopped across the channel and saw it for free in France , where MH’s are welcome!

Will be watching it on TV hopefully in Brittany!

In the past we have stayed in lay-bys in the climb out of Goathland and the climb out of Robin Hoods Bay to watch the tour. We also caught the tour of Britain by chance last September while staying in Coniston. Not sure of the route this year but if it comes through the North Yorkshire moors they will be several places to park and overnight if required.

Tour de Yorkshire is passing right by our house,
Between a level crossing and a hump back bridge, no footpath and very narrow verge. It’s not very picturesque, but we have enough room to park another MH. If anyone wants to park, PM me and I will give you the address so you can street view and check if it would be any good, as depending on Brexit we may not be at home, but the neighbours would sort out access.
