We both got this text within seconds of each other. Do people actually fall for these things!

Yes,they do unfortunately.

If the number doesn't come up in my list of contacts it doesn't get answered. If it's important they can leave a message. Although that number would indicate a UK mobile number (in which case it wouldn't be Royal Mail now would it) it's all too easy to show any number you like.

i get them regularly since I booked through a third party parcel service that has been mentioned on here as a poor service provider. it should be coincidence

Mine must be special mail. They wanted £2.99 from me !
Imagine, trying to get a Yorkie to part wi his brass !!! 😯

have been getting 'international' phone calls from a bradford area code, ignored naturally..
and cals from different areas in africa ever since my sister phoned me from her mobile (in kent) through facebook so she can get it free, her number is now also ignored..

.

ALWAYS

Work on the basis THEY phoned, txt, Emailed you.

IF you think you should check THEN call them.

NEVER Ever On the link/phone/email/txt or anything else they ask you to do.

Google contact details and call direct

Alas to re-enforce that NEVER EVER click/reply to links/phone/email/txt or anything else they ask you to do.

Sorry for the bit of a rant just paranoid and so it seems Justifiably so!

If anyone asks for payment details UNLESS you rang them to BUY something, ASK

"Does your mother know you do this for money"

Stay Safe.

Eldest lad fell for one of those as he was expecting a parcel via that company DPD.
Next he gets a call from bank as someone was trying to use his credit card and last transaction had flagged him as at risk.
Card stopped and replaced so no major damage.
His younger brother works in the "scam department" of the big Spanish bank and is having so much fun taking the mick 😀 out of him.

Don't know as we have done anything different lately but we have suddenly got loads of phone calls and texts, Amazon going to take £30, and £600 gone somewhere out of the bank( chance would be a fine thing) but the one we get maybe three times a day is they are going to cut our internet off, plus the normal window and insulation ones.
Yeah and we are now getting about three different post office ones a day.

I'm thinking there has been another big data breach somewhere that no one is owning up to as we are getting a lot more of these landline/mobile and email scams recently.
