Looking for recommendations for upgrades to the X250 door speakers.

Anyone who has done this please share what you did and liks if possible.

Just about to upgrade the head unit so I would like speakers to justify it.

TIA

I did mine about 4 years ago

Bought a kit from ebay - can't remember make, but known brand

It came with wiring adaptors and fitted in about 10 minutes

Pull off covers (velcro) take out old speakers, put in new, connect via adaptor

Sorted

I replaceded my door speakers with Eton speakers. They make like for like replacements for the Ducato. Whilst doing this I also lined the nside of the door with lead sound insulation. This made a great improvement. I added a sub woofer under the drivers seat which added more bass and installed two speakers under the rear seats. I changed the head unit to an Alpine DAB and have since installed a switch to run the radio from the leisure battery.
The whole set up provides us with an excellent sound quality when driving and when on site. All well worth doing if you have the time.

I did this a few weeks back (after already swapping the head unit).

The straight replacement kits (that included the tweeter) were quite expensive from memory, so I decided on a set of composite speakers and a Sony amp, which worked out at about £130 total

I went with these JBL speakers and this amp. The amp fits behind the door well plastics, with a little pushing of existing cables. Took a few hours, but sounds so much better now.

Our 2014 van stereo and speakers are factory standard and sound fantastic. Great bass and volume. Are your vans older?

Fitted a pair JBL door speakers along with sticky backed foil/closed cell neoprene sound deadening/insulation material to the inner side of the cab door skins to stop them drumming.

Look at the difference in weight between the original Peugeot speakers and the JBL's.

Installed the head unit today. Wasnt a big deal.
The sound out of the stock speakers was much better than I imagined.

I have brought a Kenwood tune up Subwoofer thingy to put under the seat to see if that helps.

Impressed with the ease of use of the head unit for around £220 with the connects2 adaptor kits and the DAB+ aerial adaptor.

The first thing I would usually upgrade is the speakers, we all know they are usually the weak link in the system. But I really don't see how our sound system would benefit. I think you may be disappointed if you spend 50 quid on some others. Maybe the other folks have had water damaged speaker cones or the newer vans have better speakers 👍

New component speakers think they are called one big speaker one little tweeter but still won’t give the best base need a sub for that, once installed makes a massive improvement over fiat originals, not cheap but if you like good sound it’s priceless when your driving for hours on end, the quality if you get it right means you hear instruments on a track that you couldn’t hear before, also great if you can have speakers in front and behind think home tv surround sound

I do think the stock speakers they fit nowadays are very good. But I do have an unused pair of 6.5 in Pioneer high power speakers though, am tempted to give it a go, but I'm hesitant to pull off the pristine speaker grills. Is it easy to do? Do they just pull out without damage?

I'm in the mood for changing the useless Tom Tom unit in our van, after it failed to recognise the A14 has been changed for a few years now, and got me delayed this weekend. Done a bit of reading around and only watch-outs seem to be issues with after-market head units and the Fiat Canbus resulting in flashing mileages or an inability to set the time/date ??

Has anyone whose replaced their head unit (on a X290 Ducato ideally) had any canbus issues please or is it really just a case of switching over the leads. I'm thinking of a replacing with a single din, Sony head unit

Kenwood caused mega flashing but ignored over better sat nav and sound, so faint flashing orange not difficult to ignore!!

I fitted a Kenwood recently with a Connect2 adapter for CANBUS. Flashing mileage is an adjustment in the settings and the steering wheel controls operate the volume, mute and change etc. The Connect2 packages are not cheap but are comprehensive, just make sure you buy the right one out of many options. I particularly wanted Android Auto, DAB2 and a second camera input to allow it to be used as a rear long view camera/mirror and also reversing short wide view camera.
