Hi.
Noticed that when starting up the 2.5tdi engine the dashboard battery light stays a few minutes now colder weather is here.

Is this normal?

In the summer it stayed on around 5 or 10 seconds, blip of the throttle usually got it go out. Whilst light is on I only have 12.1 volts showing onboard (engine battery selected), as soon as it "warms up" and light goes out I get 14.4.

Should I be concerned or normal for this style/age of Ducato?

Could it be alternator belt slipping ?
Audibly. No. But can't rule out yet.
I do have a new tension adjustment bracket to be fitted but wondered if this behaviour is normal? Ie if alternator needs changing at same time?...... Can I check anything?

could easily be the voltage regulator on the alternator

As TheBig1 said it is the voltage regulator. My old one used to go out on its own & the voltage rise to 14+ . The new replacement you can sit there all day & ifyou don't blip the throttle it stays without charge at 12+v

??? Are you saying your new one is performing worse than the old one? Confused?

No works perfectly well & has done for a couple of years. It just doesn't automatically change to charge as the old one did.
