We watched this couple both launching and retrieving their boat over the last couple of days on a shingle estuary in Pembs. They were very proficient but occasional front wheel spin.
Had to admit I wouldn’t try this with our motorhome. You?

Its on the highest point of water so yes probably, especially if I know the area.
Unknown area and shingle, nope....not a chance.
Must be local or regulars

Definitely knew what they were doing. Must have a contact locally to retrieve them ie. farmer with tractor.

Yes we launch and recover using our 6.3m PVC. It’s not our first choice, as the Mini Countryman is easier to manoeuvre in the tight space we have at the jetty …

What you mean you have a mini tbsts managed to got out the workshop wow thats impressive

I have always fitted a 50mm ball to the towing eye on the front of any car for shunting..More manouverability.... (Especially, front wheel drive..) More traction and you can see better..

Not for me thanks used to do this for a living with the fire service and a 4 wheeled drive landy. Even then bit hairy at times. 😮

No. They are shit on anything but solid ground.
It would appear that either, they are proving your thoughts on that vehicle wrong, or they are better drivers than you. They seem to manage quite well.

Each to their own. I wouldn’t want that motorhome after. Hard worked clutch and a rear end that’s been dunked in the water. No thanks.
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

Agree, I wouldn't think dunking the rear wheels in salty water will do them any good at all as the clutch wouldn't appreciate it either as they aren't the best.

Brave but pretty cool.

God knows how they retrieve it though as it’s very muddy as the tide goes out.

I know that area well ( my Mum was born there) and I was shocked to learn that the Point House pub had closed its doors.

Coincidence with this thread running... :Eeek::giggler:

Good news Chris, The Point House has a new owner and will be open next year.
Lovely spot for people watching and drinking Prosecco.

That's good news. (y)

Angle isn't the same without that pub and the sometimes treacherous drive to it at high tide.

Lot of difference between a shingle beach & a slipway. Front tow ball is best for fwd. That way you also have a choice

The worry for me is it is tidal and what is your rescue plan?
99% of the time, no worries.
1% bad day. How do you explain that one to the insurance company?
I’ve launched loads of boats but with a 4x4 or quads and knowledge of local farmer with a tractor.
Everyone to their own. Perhaps he knows a local farmer?
