Portable washing machine . Total weight is 12.5kg . It “ wedges “ nicely between the two bike rack bars . Obviously I would ratchet strap it down . Would this be safe ?

Don't see a problem.
Cheers Lenny HB . It’s the same as the one you have . Her indoors won’t allow me to pay for laundry fees, since we are already paying for sites with EHU . So she bought me this . It’s completely impractical really with no garage but I am backed into a corner 😂. How do you find it to use ? Any good ?

Is she really that enthusiastic about doing washing whilst away ?
How long are you going away for, maybe you need to give her some tips on how to get a month out of a pair of knickers - back to front, inside out, turned around, give 'em a shake outside once a week etc ???
Or just go commando ....
Enjoy your trip ;)

Reminds me of one of my very favourites lyrics....by one of my favourite artists "Johnny Cash"

#Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt#

I've just returned from 5 weeks wild camping and didn't wash my knickers the whole time. No need. I took 36 pairs. K-Mart sell 'em for the equivalent of 50pence per pair.

Easy apart from getting it out of the garage with all the other junk around it. Works well only takes 150 watts for both washer & spinner so easy to run off the inverter. As long as you don't overdo the rinsing doesn't use too much water less than ½ a tank about 75 Lt for about 3 or 4 lots of washing, only use it about a third full, struggles if you stuff too much in and no point as the spinner is a smaller capacity but you can fill the spinner right up.

Needs to be sitting "on the bars " not between them:Needs to be supported underneath.

If it "wedges between the bars" then I would screw a piece of ply between the 2 support bars underneath for it to sit on.

It’s sitting on the rack . I’ve tried to secure it as tight as possible with ratchet straps . It seems ok so far , been for a drive and all good .

I would put a plate under it as it doesn't have a flat bottom and libel to damage the corner feet like that.

Those are not Ratchet straps those are Camlock straps you will lose it with them, they work loose under vibration.

My Mrs can get more than a month out of hers, but a shake is never enough. She has to slap them up against a brick wall......

I had the same problem with my wife so I bought her a washing machine/keep fit machine. Two for the price of one (y)

Good luck going through Customs with that on the back. You'll need another hour to dismantle and re-assemble it, especially if you also have bikes on the rack !

Luckily there are no customs in Derbyshire .
AHA - now I understand your reluctance to use exorbitantly over priced site facilities ! I assumed you were travelling to the Continent where in my experience it's very cheap to use the washers !
