Next year I hope
Hi All,

Another request to help me with my research please.

Looking at various threads, it seems having wood as a structural material in a motorhome is a potential liability due to rot. So, assuming I'm not buying anything more than 4 years old, what's available for <£55k that's not wooden?

So far I can see that Chausson, Carado, Sun Living have wood for sure; PVCs, Mc Lewis and Hymer do not.

Is there a list? I can't see anything on the site and manufacturers aren't always helpful!

Thanks.

The Managing Director of Adria and Sun Living explained perfectly to me one day. If its built properly then wood isn't an issue.
I sell Sun Living and there are very little issues ever with the vans. They truly are Adria's best kept secret!
Lots of vans will have an aluminium body but then the floor is wooden.

Timber construction is an ancient art, however the timber used also needs to be chosen by an ancient craftsman, not from a kiln dried assortment of compressed timber.
Timber is a good product in the correct environment and of suitable type grain etc.

What year did they start no wood?
No idea but mine (2019) has alloy instead of wood for the frame apart from the internal fittings its either steel grp or alloy Its on the Pilote website and it says revamped from 2017 so that could be when

Boats, piers, jetties, barrels and lock gates made with suitable wood properly treated are good for a hundred or so years.
