this afternoon nothing else to do yer right

Decided to try and move the truck out of its waddy
Remeber this thread http://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/storage-wound-right-up.102931/#post-1316856

Anyway three hours maybe 1.5 meters of travel
covered in muck and bullets no!! me not the truck
Jack on two 4 ft of 2" x 4" timber bearers
Freshly removed from the loft
move forward by one brick at a time or it felt like it
Truck Slips into the mud
jack the truck up
bricks under wheels
forward off the bricks
jack it up start again after retrieving bricks from the mud
all the time
I'm aware Of being completely alone
in a field of empty camper vans and motyhomes
Never felt so fed up well except when the engine went bang

Purchased a 2.5 ton trolley jack from halfrauds £60.00:eek::(:sicker:
Now that hurt .!!!

Anyway pictures tell a thisand words so they say

Go on ya burgers laugh away I would ::bigsmile::groan::reel:

Couldn't alter the thread title
should of been losing the battle

Was a newbie, now a Middie.
I think I would have bought a couple of those 'mud mats' to lay down under the driving wheels before you even moved. Very light, can be rolled up and easily stored.

I was chauffeured home by daughter
After driving 70 miles to put it in storage
140 mile in all
prior to moving house
Lift was in a rush to get back
First time back to see it and get it ready for adventures
And it was stuck didn't realize I'd parked in a paddy field
Looked firm ground in august
Only live 3 miles from it now
But the house renovations didn't help

Michelin tyres at a guess ?
THat is why we will never willingly have them on a motorhome !
Canna help with your situation Tofo, but BET if you had Hankooks on the ol' girl would have waddled her way out ..
You may well disbelieve and I would not blame you for doubting, but as anyone witnessed the Miller leaving the quagmire that was Newark 2 years ago they are just weirdly amazing at mud plugging ! ( we was in up to the top of the rims and STILL managed to ( slowly !!! ) drive out of it )

Tyres are comming up renewal time
Continentals on at present
Same as my old works ren traffic
That lost grip on damp grass without sinking

Still I do have some rubble at home
One bag at a time should do it
It's gotta go somewhere

Living the dream.
Can I suggest calling into a scaffold company and buying a couple of planks that are coming up for disposing of (cheap) and laying them on the ground once you have jacked the beasty up again.

I've got some shuttering timber that was a tank stand
Prior to new combi
Finished boarding the loft yesterday

So that will be cut into 12 " lengths

Thanks for the tip though
Need some for the garden as well

On and off for many years.
Well I for one am not going to take the Michael, I've been stuck in a muddy car park using the car and it's not nice..... doesn't make it any easier when you are one of dozens either.

Hope you get it out soon.

Let the tyres down until they are really soft - that should improve traction considerably (it's what the Aussies do in deep sand with a 4x4). Once out, pump them up again. A heavy duty pump is cheaper than a trolley jack.

the tread pattern on the michelin tyres is awful for mud and gives no grip
Thank you for letting me know...I haven't a clue what tyres are on mine and need to find out now. Fingers crossed they aren't michelin! But already got "mud grippy mat things" being delivered today as I type with some advice taken from another thread...feeling so much more confident about living in my moho since being on here. Its fab! :)

So do I - but they're pretty heavy!
Yes they are but fortunately not a problem for us as we are well within our weight limit and they are very strong.
In fact I'm considering a second pair which would then enable us to get out of almost any situation.

It's not payload that is the issue - just heaving the bu**ers about - and the glass dust coating on the upper surface is very abrasive if you let it slip across your fingers. I should have bought 25 mm thick ones instead of 38 mm - always prone to over-engineer everything I do!
