Wish my neighbour had a generator (tongue in cheek!)

I'm on day 7 off-grid, power was really low this morning, but having had to drive around trying to find tonights stop for over 2 hours, I'm showing 12.7v now.
Not a great day struggling to find anywhere off-grid, crappy roads on concrete camper tyres trying to dodge all the craters and then getting stuck in a really busy, dead end park and having to reverse all the way out again (damn you Google maps street view for not having driven a lot of places yet), even tried 2 campsites as a last resort, but they were no go's too. Well past dark I've settled for a truckers lay-by, much needed kick back and relax, even if its not quite what i had in mind.

When i parked in the lay-by I noticed (what i thought i was abandoned) derelict looking old Auto-quest in the lay-by when i arrived. To my surprise they just started the engine and are revving it at a healthy rpm, presumably they too were short on battery power!

I know many folks on here love people with generators, so thought I'd mention, wish he had one instead of doing that! :D

I really dont mind (cant speak for the truckers probably sleeping), its dark but early yet, if he needs power then.. not sure running it stationary is going to do a fat lot though really.

Where are you, as in UK or Europe?

Only for info as I'm not pro or anti Genny.
Toolstation recently had a clearance deal on a small generator £99. It's wasn't massive on power (600w) but small in physical size.

Been static for almost 7 days now and have run the engine myself for 2 one hour slots. No need to rev as it ain’t putting out anymore leccy than tickover.

Are you in 🇬🇧 or overseas?

Im in Britain yes. Nothing but cloud for the last week, actually surprised how well my solar has done considering.

wow! 3amps might be enough for what i need.
and beautiful MH you have there ;)

I’ve been getting 0.2A from the solar panel. Then lent out of the large skylight and pushed all the leaves off and now it’s 0.5A.

Not great but at least it’s something on a grey day.

I visited the local toolstation who had one in stock and asked to see the box.
Not overly big or heavy, with that output ideal for battery charging. (y)

Didnt buy one myself as cant ever see me having to use one.

I had a quick look online, that genny has awful reviews just 9 combined 4&5 star reviews and 23.. 1 stars

I may have to drop the electric bed and climb out the skylight to check now you said lol :D

My Honda has been a godsend, quiet but powerful enough to run the microwave. I know it was expensive 12 years ago but it's paid it's way.
