Hi sockets always an issue for me. OK I want to add this for more sockets etc. I already have one socket for the tv

Can I use the cables from the existing socket or is the a better way to wire it? Many thanks in advance.

I piggy-backed my USB charging sockets on the back of the TV socket i.e. in parallel not series. Hence they's go like this:

Bother - just noticed that the polarities are not all the same way round - hence the reds should all be to the positive terminal and the blues to the negative! Sorry!

That red and blue wire looks very thin.

I Do now... Many thanks. I'll buy some. My main problem is can I just put it in series ie take a lead from the old plug... Add it to the new... Then join every two terminals on new sockets... Then join final connection back to the connection on the existing plug... Or will I fry something.

I fitted the same unit, I think it has a 12v socket, two USB sockets and a voltage readout. I fitted mine with an in-line fuse in an enclosure.

No it was the voltage I was concerned about but it's fine. Although power is linked via v and I. Schoolboy physics coming back. Best do job before dementia sets in lol

I'd put a fuse between the 12v socket and the other two. Take the original wires to the 12v socket, that should be appropriately fuse already. Piggy back the + live to the usb with a 5A inline fuse, piggy back + live to the voltmeter. Piggy back all - negs

Should I use 10 or 15 amp wire?

10amp should be fine and a 5 amp fuse. Though you could go to 15 amp wire and a 10 amp fuse but the original socket you are connecting to may be fused lower. If you can find that fuse it will give you an idea how much you can draw off it.
A £10 multimeter from somewhere like Screwfix will be useful for checking polarity if you don't already have one.

Personally I would wire this all the way with a new fuse with 15 or 20 amp wire. Couple of reasons, firstly it usually means one you know the real wire capacity, and the fuse should be easy to get to, and secondly you get more capacity, the original is already used for the TV so is taking up some 5 amps off a circuit that is unlikely to be more than 10 amps and may be less
