A little help please if you can..........
I am about to buy a Rewire Tracker for my motorhome
This device has the facility/option to have remote imobilisation.(£15 extra)

In order to do this the +ve supply to the starter motor pre-engage solenoid is interrupted by fitting a standard 5 pin automotive relay.
The supply is wired through the normally closed pin of the relay (pins 30 and 87a)

When an 'imobilise' signal is received by the unit and it's GPS sensed speed drops to zero or a minimum , the relay is activated and the stater motor supply is interrupted. (relay actually switches to connect pin 30 to pin 87 (to which nothing is connected) thus then going open on pin 87a)

All fine so far.

Therefore I need to find the cable supplying the +ve feed somewhere highish inside the engine compartmentof up inside the dash/fasia so I can fit the relay.
The unit will be behind the radio, so the starter motor cable needs to be split and brough up to this area.

Could any Funsters help with how to locate this cable , please?
2008 Ducato (X250)

I know the starter motor end should be easy to find but it's further inside the beast I need to go, possibly picking it up from the ign switch or one of the fuseboxes?

Thank you

I expect Techno or eddievanbitz might know, (but as Eddie fits a competing device he might not be in a position to respond, or at least post publicly here).

Hi, Yes, I appreciate their need to retain some knowledge. It's not their IP I seek , just some help in finding the correct cable.
I can find it but would appreciate someone shortening my investigation time.

All done now:-

Once identified, wiring was comparatively easy. (X250)
Some difficulties getting things working but now it's all done.

I think the Rewire Securities tracker is a good halfway house between the Chinese cheapies and the premium products.
I now have tracking with a geofence and the ability to immobilise the vehicle remotely , Uk and Europe.

What it doesn't have is an office to phone you up if your vehicle moves out of the area , emails and text alerts are sent.

Would that disable the engine if it was already running? Or is it disabled by default? I'd have thought it would be better cutting off the fuel solenoid power 🤔

No, it would not disable the engine if it was running. Once stopped and turned off it. Would not restart.
As I understand it, it’s a safety thing.
Disabling the fuel pump could cause an accident.

Arguably you want your vehicle back undamaged , so it works I think.
They specifically tell you not to interrupt the fuel supply.

Many thieves when they steal you vehicle park it up for 12 hours or so to see if it has a tracker.

I have the same DB 1 alarm and have successfully connected it to the alarm system to notify me if it has been triggered and that works really well. Where did you find the ignition wire? As I understand it the trigger will need to be sent via an SMS?

The ign wire, as the link describes (on an X250 anyway) is the brown and black cable coming out of the 3 way connector at the ign switch. I cut this lead and connected a loop to go back to where the relay and the DB1 were located inside the fascia. The cable needs to be the same size as the original cable.
This cable was then cut and connected across the heavy duty side of the relay using the normally closed contact.
On the light duty side of the relay, one side is connected to +ve and the other to the D02 lead on the DB1 (purple).
The relay used is a standard automotive 5 pin.

Because the extended cable is connected to the relays normally closed contacts , the vehicle can be started normally.

Yes, you need to use either the phone app or the website to send a command to the DB1 to 'activate' D02.
You get 20 command SMS credits every month.

D02 then energises the relay switching the supply to the starter solenoid off and the vehicle will not re-start.

I hope I never have to use it.

Well I hadn't realised that ! thanks for the info. With the amount of new cabling I have added under the dash (tracker, dash cam, cameras, usb, etc) I have had to draw myself a cabling diagram to keep track of it all
