I want to put a switch on the D+ feed to the B2B. I have a rocker switch with integral LED which has 3 pins - supply, load and earth. I don't have easy access to an earth and was wondering if I can get the switch to function (with LED illuminating when on) without it?
I'm sure someone will be along to say why fit a B2B if you then want to turn it off but I do have my reasons :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

Can you not just earth it to the chassis/bodywork somewhere? The switch will work without the led working.

Yes, I could probably fix it to the passenger seat base, I guess that will have continuity with the chassis. Thanks

Test it for ground if you have a volt meter.

As pappajohn says, the earth is needed for the LED to illuminate. But the LED only takes a tiny current, maybe 10mA or 20mA, so even a really thin wire to earth would be fine.

Sorted today, thanks peeps. I was initially confused checking for continuity as I had somehow turned the buzzer off on the multimeter but once I realised it was easy to check. The seat frame was earthed and I was able to use an existing screw that provided a fixing for some relays. I had some 10A cable with a ring on the end that did fine.
