I turn the water off and the gas but leave the leccy on for lights and alarm. In the past have left a couple of oil radiators on timers but will probably not bother this time. Also may depend on your insurance policy conditions.

Forgot to add that our water supplier has agreed not to charge for the daily standing charge for the 6 months that we are away.

To keep your outgoings down. Consider switching your gas and electric supplier to one that does not include the daily standing charge.
We use Solarplicity. They charge a little more per unit re Gas and Electric but when very little units used you save about £20 per month on the standing charges. No tie in on contract can leave when you like

we turned our radiator thermostats down for 0 and left the central heating on constant. This avoids a freeze up should a real cold snap hits in the middle of the night when normally on timer our system would be off.
I have not done it myself, but it has been suggested, you could/should turn off your cold water stop valve, this avoids a continuous leak should your system have a burst. Central heating is a closed system so should you have a burst then the only flooding would be the loss of water from your radiators and the header tank.

As mentioned above, check house/contents insurance policy - some require thermostat at 12 degrees.....

Central heating on constant at 10c, water off, several lights on timers (using led bulbs). We find the costs are negligible, we used to leave the loft trap door open, but don't any more.

Full Time 2011-2013, now part timers!
We turned the water off and drained down the first year, but everything felt damp when we got back. Every year since we have just turned the thermostat right down and left everything on as normal. Much nicer to come home to!
