Morning, does anyone know how to remove the drop down style of wing mirror found on Concordes, Neismanns etc. Not the long arm coach style but the short arm version. By remove I mean take the whole thing off the side of the van. I have tried the striking an object at speed method and it really does not work too well. I will try and post a picture(first time) of the one I have that is still in one piece!
Thanks for your time

Have I found the only gap in the funsters knowledge? Surely not, so I must have caught you too early in the day. Hopefully it is not siesta time now.

When I read this early this morning and when you said Niesmann vans I got all excited that I could answer that you just give them a hard thump upwards BUT these look different and I don't know, sorry.

Have you checked inside, possibly underneath the trim if possible, to see if there are any through bolts? I know they are usually just screwed in from the outside but N&B are high quality so might be better built.

Yes a friend with an Arto who showed how easy he could bump off his bottom up style mirrors. The newer Arto model has the same hang down style as my concorde just with slightly longer arms. They do not seem to lend themselves to being bumped off but it maybe I am reluctant to hit it too hard. I do not fear for the wing mirror as that is a write off but damaging the bodywork if as TerryL suggests they are bolted through.

We used to have "knock-off" mirrors on some coaches, a sharp tap with a suitable hammer whilst holding the mirror. Picture doesn't look the same type of mirror though.

Finally got time to take the wing mirror plastic shroud off and reveal how the mirror is fixed to bodywork. Substantial but not as easy to remove as the early Neismann bump off type.
