Hi Jannie.

Is it the motor that's knackered? You don't say how old the unit/RV is.

I take it you have reseated the connectors to it after cleaning them and squirted wd40 on the wiper shaft to free it off.Does the motor run when disconnected fron the wipers?

Have you checked you're getting voltage to the unit with a multimeter?

Just trying to save you some hassle and money.

Have you a pic of the unit in situ please?

wiper motor

It's 2 years old, from new. Have taken the housing off and it is burnt out inside! I'm looking for a new or even better a serviced exchange if poss. What do you think?
Thanx.

I would take the old unit off and go to Partco!
If they cannot supply a replacement they will probably point you in the right direction!

I'd be astonished if a UK motor factors had an American wiper motor but hey, for the cost of a phone call, why not try them.
it's quite probable that the wiper motor is standard for the chassis (Workhorse or Ford) so I think you'd do better concentrating on the US specialists. Have a look on your wiper motor to see if there's a brand name or other reference numbers. It would help them identify it correctly.
Here's a few names for you.
Tom Molyneaux at Oakwell Motorhomes are the official Gulfstream importers.
Rodley Motors in Bradford specialise in US spares and have shipments on a weekly basis.
Duncan at Star Spangled Spanner and Linda at Stateside Tuning are well worth a call.
I'd also try Travelworld, I was astonished at the size of their stores and how helpful they were.
Finally, when I needed some bits for my Georgie Boy I found a dealer in USA who shipped it over for me. Worth a few emails?
Hope this helps.

Regards
Doug

Wiper Motor

We got a wiper motor from a company in South Wales who manufacture the the US market, Tryco is the make. They had 6 in stock and quoted £24 but then came back to me and said they cannot sell direct tey would have to go through their local distributor - £70 later we have a wiper motor.
Now it's fitted we seem to have a power problem with it - fuse maybe but we have checked these so it must be something else down the line - any ideas guys????
If you can't sort it then hopefully no rain Saturday or Sunday!

Hi Jannie,

You really need a multimeter to trace it back. You said the motor windings has burnt out!!My question would be, "Why didn't the fuse blow". Is the fuse in the fuse box marked?Do you have a circuit diagram you can scan and post here?

You say the fuse is ok? How did you check it? Swop it with an adjacent one of the same colour/amperage.

In my experience of vehicle electrics, dirty/corroded connectors and bad earths make up the majority of the problems.

Don't you just hate manufacturers who won't deal direct. That's some matkup for the "middle-man".

I found a company in the States and emailed the President. They were ever so helpful.

I'm doing my "anti-rain" dance for you.Happy Trails.

Purchased from Freedom

Hi, I recently brought a wiper motor complete for my Damon Cahllenger from Ozzy at Freedom - Tewkesbury you could give them a go. Alternativly I would try direct form USA either factory or RV builder. At least the forecast is NO rain for the next few days!!
