Just taken delivery of my first Ducato and I am annoyed at the awful reflection the silver plastic vents make on the windscreen. I have taped them over with black insulation tape and this has improved the situation - but not the looks! Going to France next week and if it's successful it looks like I will be spraying them matt black!!

I had same really annoying reflection problem. Our base vehicle is a Peugeot Boxer (2015), which comes out of the same Italian factory as the Fiat Ducato. I expect the silver covers on the vents are the same. I found the silver covers were fairly easy to just ease off the black plastic vents. They are attached with small strips of double-sided adhesive thin sponge. When removed it revealed the matt black vents, which are presume may be standard on commercial van variants of the base vehilcle and that the addition of the silver plastic stick-ons is just to give the impression of a more "car-like" styling.

If removed carefully, they will be undamaged and could be replaced if needed when (say) you sell the vehicle.

Ditto..... yes, this is the case on mine 2012 model...

Long time
Out Hymer has a light grey carpet on the dash-huge dash-and it reflects a lot so I’ve covered it with a dark smooth material (two of Decathon towels in black) works a treat.
We also have the same problem with the dash in our car so with the aid of sticky tape have put a thin black fabric on that, it’s the shiny finish that causes the problem!
Be careful tho if you have air bags!

Hello & welcome! One soloution is to get the dashboard flocked, it’s very common in motorsport to stop glare on the dashboard. A quick google lists a few companies unless your brave enough to DIY (kits available on eBay for around £20)

Thanks Millcourt, for the suggestion but my vents (Ducato 2017) are definitely NOT easily removed! I nearly wrecked one by trying to unclip it. Looks like masking them off for this trip and then spraying for a more satisfactory solution.

I covered ours with pieces of black anti slip material at first. After a while, left them off and now we don’t even notice them. I think it’s one of those things that if you find it annoying, your eyes keep getting drawn to it.

Hi Driventemple. Perhaps yours are different or I did mot explain myself correctly. You do not remove the vents, just the silver stick-on plastic covers. I just eased a small flat bladed screwdriver under one corner of the silver cover and then gently (to avoid creasing the cover) pulled it away from the vent. The double-sided adhesive thin sponge which holds the cover on remained stuck on the back of the silver cover.

The pictures do show that there is a difference between your vent trims and mine. Mine are clipped in with at least 4 fairly heavy duty lugs. I managed to remove one side but the other held fast. Although loose enough to wiggle about I could not shift it without using excess force.

You're doing well ... you've already managed to do a 'quote' so 10 out of 10 for effort, 8 out of 10 for the result! :D

Hi again Driventemple. Message understood. Obviously things have changed since mine was built 3 years ago. Sorry not to have been able to find an easy fix for you.

Oh dear, that's not good ... however ... you could instead view the 2 reflections as if they are open gates encouraging you to travel ... :D

Have you thought if polarised sunglasses? Photographers use a polarising filter on the lens to cut out reflection when taking photos of things like shop windows
