Which is best for the removing scratches off the side windows ( hedgerow wouldn't move over on A396 ) don't think they are deep .

In answer to your question, a very mild abrasive (I have used silver polish) can remove shallow scratches.
Soft cloth, circular motion, small area. Try a small unobtrusive test area first
