Window stay stops window from closing!

A gust of wind caused the window to over extend and as a result the window stays have come apart.

My issue now is that they won't close properly. I have removed the stay from the frame and re inserted the tube into the stay but is is now too long.

I have checked that the window is seated correctly.

Any help would be appreciated.

You just haven’t assembled it quite correctly. It’s been years since I fiddled, but (as you did) remove the stay and have a few goes at doing it, and eventually i worked it out and got it sorted. Can’t remember how. Sorry.

Can't see where I'm going wrong. The rod slides into the tube but won't go all the way. Stops about 1cm short

Maybe it needs a little push, might be it needs to go past a stop or something that’s supposed to stop it from coming all the way out

It’s something to do with the latchy doofa that was on the end from memory. It had to catch on the stops as it went in or it was out, not in, which made it too long. Something like that. Sorry vagueness t was on the first day I bought my Moho years ago.

Sorted! Had to use brute force and ignorance and pushed more than I was really happy with but it worked.
