Unfortunately we missed the open dayDid you go to Holy Isle? (Not to be confused with holy island)
Lovely part of the country and not as commercial as further north.

We're off to Troon tomorrow is that parking overnight ?Bill you should go visit Troon harbour. Never fail to see seals while waiting on fish n chips from the wee hurry. Parking to the left at bottom pier. One of our favourite spots.
PS If you ask at the yacht centre they will let you use their water tap.
Arran what a lovely place to spend three days

It was brilliant for the boys having company.
We done so much to much to mention
Feeling a bit sad leaving the island today.
But certainly won't miss the midge's
With out a fire and smoke to keep them at bay that would have been unbelievable
Bill
Go down Harbour rd and turn left in front of the cottages. 2 spots to wild here. If you have fon you can pick up free wifi. The wee hurry chippie is at end of harbour to your right.Lots of seals in the harbour while you wait for fish to be cooked fresh. We just didn't give our shelf enough time there. My bedroom window in my old house looked straight over to the Isle of Arran. Tis just a short hop from anywhere in Ayrshire & well worth a visit. The trouble is, one visit is never enough. Climbing Goatfell is highly recommended if your reasonably fit, the views are stunning.
A wee holiday over there is long overdue for us Bill, its about time we shook our tails & headed over with our moho, I've never tried wilding over there though.

With some friends then back wilding tomorrow
Heading down the cost on our trip to angilsay devon Cornwall Dorset and beyond
The test run for the engine is going grate so far Bill
We will go the cost road the van is like a mountain goat now it pulls like a trainDepending on which way you want to go (coast or through the countryside) I'd use the A713 Ayr to Castle Douglas road when your heading towards Dumfries. Its a reasonably quiet road & passes through some very pretty scenery mate, so when you get to Castle Douglas all you have to do is hang a left onto the A75 then you'd be in Dumfries in no time.
That's some test run for your newly installed engine upgrade. Are you finding the extra power useful?

Thanks @DBK that certainly look a good place to goIf you want to try some pike fishing I can strongly recommend Loch Arthur which is south west of Dumfries. You fish from the roadside and I am sure you will find a place to park up for the night there. I've only fished it once many years ago but caught two around 14 or 15 pounds but it has fish bigger.
