Just a nudge to all, if you want to try a night on the bright side, try a bit of wild camping, away from the expensive clipped camp site lawns and crusty commandants.

I look at it as being responsible and using our van as least intrusive on the locality as we can, have fun

Interesting , but a lot of spots on the Isle of Wight are either national trust car parks that don't allow over nighting or forestry car parks similar , several on the downs that state no night stays. Shame !!
 
Looks similar to me Fidget all the ones near me are lay-bys on main A roads !

There's a lot of work gone into it but a check of the "rest stops" around me suggests they have listed the quiet car parks, at least one of them NT where you could probably have a good chance of spending a night without being disturbed but they are not places where overnight camping is expressly allowed. Out of season you would probably be safe. They only list them as "potential" anyway, so perhaps fine if you are in a strange area and don't know where to look.

Useful resource I think.
