When you give your dog a nice bed and a lovely blanket to lye on.. ???

Why do they scuff it up into a little lumpy pile after walking round and round in circles for umpteen times... :xdoh:

It's instinct back from when they were wild, they are checking for snakes and the like that may hurt them.

But she is an Alaskan shepherd...... Don`t have snakes there do they..???x:-):xThumb:

We experienced this once in Corfu, a local stray (short haired german pointer) that adopted us for our holidays walked round and round scraping all the leaves etc into a bed outside our front door, the kids did find a snake in the garden too...

Cheers
Red.

Make it all lumpy before you put it down.
Daisy will the go around in circles and make it nice and flat and comfy😄

our jackies do this, the girls more than the boys always

My girl Jack will go around for ages scratching her bed up but with her brother it’s a quick scratch.

Sometimes she’s scratching away for ages then walks off😁

It’s making their nest, our Millie scraps away and round and round before she settles.

It's so you can't get too comfy in it when Judy sends you to bed!:xrofl:

Well they don't have any trees so they need something to use as a walking stick!:whistle2::xrofl:

Ours do it because they've seen me do it.

Teddy the terrorist ripped both Daisy's bed and his own bed cushion to pieces.
We bought Daisy a new 'indestructable' bed......1 hour ..1 bloody hour and Ted had chewed the name badge off and left a hole in it.
Now we lock his cage and put Daisy's bed on top each morning so he can't get to either.

Harry spends a long time "scruffling" his nice flat bed before collapsing onto his still flat bed - he does it on our bed as well unfortunately and the nice tidily made bed looks like there's been a fight!
