My VB semi air suspension arrived today. So up with the van, onto axles stands & wheel chocks.

Started to knock off the rubber bump stops and the first one started off easy then got tight, so I give it a spray of releasing fluid (not WD40). Left it a while then went back to it, still quite stiff but it was going round and slowly lowering.
Then it happened.....it dropped slightly (20mm approx) but won't come off, it's swinging on the bolt which is now just turning. I can get my fingers onto the threaded nut it screws onto, and that's solid but for some reason the bump stop just turns around and wont drop off.

Any ideas ?

I'm going to try the other side see if that will drop off which may give me a clue to what is happening.

If the stud sticking out of the chassis is still solid pull straight down, hard, on the bump stop & keep turning. It's possible a small section of the stud, inside the bump stop nut, has stripped. If the metal insert inside the bump stop is not turning with it then cut the bump stop off & free the insert.

The rubber doughnut is preventing the bolt locating in chassis. If I force it over I think it may rub on the metal chassis . Bearing in mind the rubbers are compressed at the moment with tie wraps.
Has anyone fitted this to Hymer B544 (2011) ??

Is the weight off the springs? Might that help? Just guessing.

This is the perfect example why we should not over use F***, sure as hell you need it now.

Could you grind away that bracket and if necessary weld some extra stiffening on ?

Actually i don't know what they are for, they go through the floor and are heavy duty, the other side is different, doesn't have this contraption. Wife wondered if it's for spare wheel ??

Does the addition frame work provide the anchor point for the rear seat belts.?

have thought that myself, wondering if the airbags can fit on the axle instead with suitable spacer.
Is it not part of a towbar mount? Whatever it is the airbags must not be able to make contact with it. It appears to be clamping another unpainted metal section to the chassis. What is that as it doesn't appear to be OEM?

I haven't got the VB instructions at hand but if I recall correctly they specify that a minimum of a 10mm expansion gap be applied from the rubber bellow to any hard object.

Correct, It won't fit so will have to sell it on. Lesson learned.

True but I've assembled them now so packaging opened. I've listed them in classifieds. I'm very dissapointed as wanted to improve rear suspension.

Strangely enough just yesterday I returned some luggage for my bike, it would not fit, wiped my handprints off them and returned without question.

In my case I think they had supplied the wrong brackets.

That's a shame. Is there any way you can grind the large lip off that plate. I can't make sense of it from the pics so I may be talking a lot of nonsense.

The bellows may actually be slightly wider when inflated also take into fact they will fluctuate as the van goes up and down on the suspension. The plate is coming off, and I will alter the whole thing, I was just unsure what it was for but convinced now it's for the rear seats with seat belts. It really is one helluva lump for that.

thanks for all the replies, and help.
