We got ours as we are very keen skiers and spend about a month in the van each year skiing. Sadly at -24 night and -5 daytime high you need a proper double floor van (if you want normal water facilities used) which no UK manufacturer makes.

Also on our list was Gas/Electric and Diesel Heating again only certain Continental manufacturers offer all three on the same van. Although I could drop electric if I really needed to.

1) -The layout
2) -fixed bed (no faffing about trying to make things fit)
3)- good heating (we use ours all year round) often away for new year at - 27c at new year rallies in Scotland, Alde system is great.
4)- reasonable towing limit, as we often take our Mx5 on a trailer when touring Uk/going to shows

Fixed bed, decent shower and at least three seat belts (daughter continues to insist on coming!) Had a good idea what we wanted from the accommodation after nearly 40 years as a tugger.

Well we rented many vans, before we chanced upon our perfect van. We went on holiday and rented a van to accommodate 6, long story, we went to the Spa Grand Prix, and my brothers came along! Anyway here she is before we took ownership the next year! :D

Island bed, price, 4 belted seats for when grand children come large fridge freezer . I thought we would have to get a tag axle but when we went to look at one and it was tatty we looked around the sales area and luckily found the one we have. All the above and quite small at only 7.3m. Still very happy with it.

its was either buying another yacht and doing a solo trip around the World again or a camper, now aged 65 I did not think I could take the never ending work involved in a solo trip around the world, so I got me a motorhome to travel Europe, a lot easier,

Wanted to go narrow for fast and easy driving, hence van conversion. Automatic gearbox essential and fixed twin single beds too. So changed from a coachbuilt to current camper a couple of months ago. Love how you can open all the doors and let the sunshine in. (y)

After having a pvc for a few years we knew exactly what we needed fixed bed,fridge/freezer, loo with separate shower, and a garage for all our stuff and my Mx bike we bought the burstner 695 t-star in Feb and it was perfect for us. Was just a shame someone else took a liking to it and stole it after we had only used it 3 times.Next one will also have an external bbq point to save carrying an extra bottle.

5 years, feel free to ask me about the Carado!!
Price vs quality, a fixed bed and a large both sides access garage. Also bearing in mind the 14 ferry crossings I have done this year.....length. My Carado also had a high cab spec where it mattered, cruise control and air con.

My next van will be a stealthy self build and better (in terms of function over form) ....for what I have in mind, hopefully.

Big garage to carry a proper motorbike, huge bed, proper bathroom with a mansized shower and a decent lounge to stretch out in.
All that and only 7.5 metres long, 5 years and 65000 miles later still the perfect choice.

Buffy was right for us when we bought her - price, garage, seat belt and berth numbers plus it wasn't too long to go through the gate and make the turn. Now we have another grandchild so need an extra berth so will be changing next month (fingers crossed). Oh, and the gate is no more!
Well that's gotta be the most expensive "new arrival" present I've ever heard of. It's a good job we don't do the same, with 15 grandkids and 7 great grandkids (so far), we'd be needing a coach by now.

Having just sold our van conversion, we wanted something with more room and a fixed island bed, decent storage, twin sofa layout and a few other things. Just took delivery of our new 730 last month and it ticks all the boxes and we love it, hope we don't suffer from too many build/warranty issues but so far so good.

Our list was based on what we liked about, and what we wanted to add to, our last MH (a Tabbert FFB 570 Classic):
A class
No fixed bed
Front lounge
Hab door near the rear
Usable separate shower
Budget wasn't important - choose the van then aim for one old enough to afford.
