If you are travelling and need wi fi then you do not have a choice!
If you pay for a given a!ount of data then that is what you should get irrespective of time!!!

i travel for about 6 months of the year i dont use a dongle . i use free wifi where ever i go.
if you dont like the terms of your agreement why take it out . you could have a contract . you could use a mobile phone and hook into that . or a mifi system . lots of choices out there .
you could stop traveling . again another choice.

For PAYG data sims?
If you pay say £25 for 7gb of data then it should be yours no matter how long it takes to use it!
Totally agree. I use very little. Ages ago I got a mifi then see I have to use the sim I bought within a month of starting to use it - so I haven't started yet. I don't know how much I use, but I know it isn't anywhere near that much!

You have to be realistic on behalf of the suppliers. Selling completely open ended contracts could only end in bankruptcy. Keeping a hold on income and service provided has to have controlled periods in time.
The terms and conditions are not kept from you so why purchase a contract that you are not happy with then call them names for giving you what you purchased.

Buttons, I am not calling the supplier names, and I am aware of the terms and conditions of the supplier. Just wish that I didn't have to think about expiry date. I personally don't download much at all but enjoy browsing and therefore would much prefer longer periods on smaller data packages.

Maybe you should look at 3.. I think the 321 package has a small amount of free data .. And the all u can eat plans are unlimited.
I have to agree that you seem to be moaning about something you agreed to

Thanks sdc77: I currently have a contract with 3 for mobile at home which is purely vía MiFi. When my contract is up fòr renewal I will be discussing with them my requirements and see what can be sorted.

I live in France where i have an SFR comtract!
I am in the UK for about 5 weeks.
I winter in Portugal/ Spain!
Are you suggesting I take out a contract in all these countries?
All i am saying is you should be able to buy a given amount of data which you can use till it runs out with no time limit!

Everything is there for the taking Munchie you just have to pay the going rate. It will all be in black and white in the contract.(y)

That's why I keep my old phone - it's GENUINE payg - I put £10 on it every year or so. But this is what I feel you should be able to do - either pre-pay or post-pay, but pay for what you actually use. [I have no interest in all the other stuff you can do with smart phones so that helps!]

I know it's in the contract, I know it's what you buy, but that doesn't necessarily make it a sensible financial product. Some of the other options given above are like speaking Martian to me - if you haven't kept up with communications technology, like I haven't, you simply haven't a chance of catching up now!

Semaphore used to work well.....

Ye gods talk about stating the obvious!!!

All i ask is why a time limit!
What difference to provider if i use it in 31 or 33 days?

I am not complaining about having to pay!
I know the conditions!!!
I agree with you totally about expiring allowances.
I recently bought a Three data sim with a 12 month expiry - £70 for 12gb
Can't see a top up option with the same life expectancy so maybe have to buy another card when this one expires
I hate feeling like I'm being ripped of and just because it's how phone companies treat their customers does not make it right

So. You want your provider to be nothing more than a credit holding company....they are there to make make a profit.

7gb could last some users many months....No profit in that.

If you want non expiring credit then get a 3 payg sim and don't buy an add on.

Credit lasts until it's spent, at 1p per mb.
