How noisy are they, was parked next to a Vito campervan in Mevagissey and that seemed very noisy, I was considering removing gas fire and adding a diesel heater now not sure

My son's '08 Iveco pickup has a Webasto installed in the "welfare" section (ex Dorset council vehicle) the ally exhaust stub on the heater has corroded clean through and become detached, maybe as a result of exposure to road salt, dissimilar metals and temperature ?

I fitted a chinese diesel heater to our classic type 2 and very happy with the results.Subseque tly fitted an all in one to the garage. On the van used 2 silencers and now hardly audible.Fuel pump also not really noticeable but at front of vehicle but still only thin steel between us and it. Make sure you get the right depth turret to suit the overall thickness of your floor build up.Plenty of choice on ebay and install tips on Youtube

You may have missed in the thread title that the OP was asking about mounting under their van not inside their van.

They need silencers fitted on both the exhaust and ideally on the air inlet side as well. Some installers don't fit them, either to save a bit of money or because doesn't understand the need.

As you say a lot of the noise comes from the combustion air intake, so I fitted a foam dirt bike air filter on ours which cut the combustion air intake noise down considerably.

What is your base vehicle?

I've fitted four to VW T5 & T6s, not all in the OEM position but all underneath.
We have an Adria 670 SLT - on a Fiat Ducato base

Are one is directly below garage. Bed directly above garage, is noisy so would consider if you could find space as far away from bed as possible. Will try take a few pics tomorrow for you 👍🏻

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
Ralph fitted webasto diesel heating under our van. Peugeot XLWB boxer.
It’s very quiet in and outside and we wouldn’t be without it. The whole van is warm no cold spots.
It came with a stainless steel box to put it in if I remember. Anyway it’s somewhere in his build thread . 👍
