Who has migrated to W11?

Windows 11?
Bought a new laptop awhile ago with it installed, not much difference (for me) works as it should with no issues.

No. I have to update my bios settings, still haven't worked out how to do it.

I'm worried that a lot of my legacy software will not work with W11, I still have office 2003 on my W10

Yes, swapped over. Nothing much to note apart from it has jiggered up my AutoCAD settings.

Yes upgraded much better than windows 10 and very few if any issues. Older software just runs in compatibility mode if required.

Don't use the lap top much, just downloading TV programs. While ever it works I'll keep it 👍 takes it half an hour to switch on nowadays 😊

Same here, new laptop with W11 and no problems so far.

Gina.

No. I have laptops happily running W10, W7, even XP and MS-DOS. I can carry on using my old laser printers and scanner/copier.

No - because M$ says my old hardware can't cope.
My laptop is a Chromebook and all the better for being so.

Among a number of reasons i keep well clear of Windoze hence I am an Apple MacOS man, the system is based on Unix which is highly secure. When you look at the HDD (actually an SSD) there are two partitions, one of which cannot easlly be got at, the second is the users part which where you save your stuff except mine upload to the cloud automatically anything you wish to store there once set up. In the 13 years of MacOS use I would never go back. I am at my church forced to use Windoze on the AV system as that is how it was installed for us and still not impressed.

My son the IT techy says its hardly worth the change.
Don't bother dad :clap2:

Another set of thoughts, have you ever looked at the used prices of MacOS laptops and the age of them. You can be asked a lot more that a MS based system due to their durability. Although I do not often turn to it due its age my Mac from 2009 still works properly albeit slower than much newer ones with faster processors, etc. The reason that Windows runs into trouble is it is open based software which Apple Mac is not, Apple tests and approve all software and hardware for compatibility. This Mac i am on now is from 2011 and only just this year can i not update the MacOs any further as the processors are not suitable so I know I will retire it in due course

That's a bit like the usual response of "buy a Hymer" to someone asking about a Burstner! But this is Fun after all.

Exactly. I am not however entirely convinced about motorhome builders except that my experience of German built is the excellence of the quality of the materials and workmanship. My last caravan was a Burstner and that impressed me after a succession of
Briitish vans with variations of workmanship and quality of materials. But i am open to be shown otherwise.

Migrated to W11, and no problems at all. Running a 5 year old laptop.

Still got a machine running 98SE as it still connects to one of my printers!:whistle2:

Just moved from a Mac as the replacement battery and charger required were dearer than an as new refurbed Chromebook with 500Gb sd card which does all I require. More secure, modern interface and syncs as well.

I run Windows 10 on my Mac. So that I can continue to use Quicken 2004.

I have Dave. I couldn't put it on my 6 year old PC because it did not have the correct secure chip. So I bought a Microsoft Surface Pro with W11 already installed.

Seems Ok for me but I don't really see there is much difference. Managed to get drivers for my 12 year old Brother printer/scanner. Also I can still run my free version of Microsoft Money Sunset Edition which is over 12 years old now and long since out of support. Found that much better than Quicken for my self employed books.

Starting to use Microsoft 365 rather than my 15 year old versions of Office software was a bit more difficult, but a couple of months later I am OK with it now. Got 1Tb of cloud storage to back everything up to the cloud. Much more than I will ever need.

Having used Apple iMac for many years I decided to get a windows based laptop a couple of weeks ago and am running W11. It’s fine so far… no issues
