Wanting a couple of tyres on the front shortly and local company offered me Michelin campa tyres for £120 plus vat adding Michelin are the only company that do campa tyres ? Or they offered ordinary van tyres ( numerous makes ) for about £70 plus vat
Would like campa tyres are there any other makes or what are your views on other van tyres

We use our van all year round so I went for Vredistin comtrac 2 which are all season tyres and have the snow flakes rating. Which means they can be used in Europe during the winter. I have also found they are much better than standard tyres on more difficult terrain like wet grass. They are Van C Rated.

Mine is a van conversion so I use what was on the van when I bought it new which are Bridgestone van tyres.

Just having 2 Conti Vanco's fitted as we speak.

They are black and round with a hole in the middle.

I pressed the send before I had finished my message. I wanted to add I have run on both Michelin camper's and Continental camper's both are excellent tyres. I think I have a slight preference for the Conti, but there isn't much in it if at all. I only went for the Vredestin because of us using our van all year round. If I was still in the UK and my driving was mainly UK or summer continent then I would probably go for the Conti.

For those with payload issues and have upgraded you might not be able to get a high enough load rating from camper tyres and may need truck tyres but this is the exception rather than the rule.

So just picked up the van after the front tyres were fitted. I had forgotten just how much tread there is on a new Vanco tyre (assume the same on all similar TBH). Happy days with new grippy front tyres and not the semi slicks that were on there (was slipping on wet grass on the previous weekend).

Not a fan of Michelin Camper tyres got them on the current van, hard ride and wear rate seems quite high, Conti's much better. But when I replace then it will be either 4 season tyres or winter tyres.

Lenny just keep in mind the wear rate on 4S tyres is mush higher than summer tyres and our first van i nearly used a set of winters in 20k km's.....

Sounds not much worse than the Michelin Campers that are on the van at the moment, fronts down to 4 mm & rear 4.5mm after 14,000 miles but they don't appear to have got much worse at 18,000 now.

15k km not miles...

soft rubber wears quickly but grips like hell.

Hence we went with Conti's as we can't stand the cold and wet:D

Leadfoot or what??? ::bigsmile: ::bigsmile: Interesting advice though. I prefer Hankooks.

I too liked the Hankooks we had fitted to our last camper,we also had a Skoda Yeti with Hankooks fitted from new.
I rated both vehicles handling and quiet.

Our Michelin campers were 3mm at 15000 miles on the front

I found the Conti's work very well in the wet. I had to do an emergency brake in the wet in a fully load 3.5 ton motorhome and I was surprised how well they gripped. Almost the same as being on a dry road.

If you can get them in the size you need, I would strongly recommend Hankook tyres.. They were and are the BEST tyres we have ever had.
They show the Michelin things up for what they are, noisy in the extreme with extremely poor grip
