Hello, title says it all really. We have a Campscout on order for June and starting to buy the kit ... anyone got revommemdations for table and chairs for outdoor living ... do most folk have an extra table for campstove/bbq? Is there an advantage to having fold flat chairs over a ‘chair in a bag’? Cheers.

7 years campers before that
we found the chair in a bag ok at first but not that comfy after a while weve now got fold flat recliners which are lafuma copies and they work well and are the right hieght for our table which is a slatted top one that goes in a bag we started with the small one and then got the larger types and use the small one for outdoor gas cooker

  1. Hi if you were in Spain I would say Crespo they did have 4 year guarantee 2 week short of 4 years noticed a 1" rip took it back to the shop and it will be repaired or a new one. (y)
They now have 6 years so bought 2 more.

But yes fold flat light weight, we always go for rounded frame google

If your on soft ground the others with legs sink in the ground. (y) Bob

Not long enough!
You need to sit on the chair before you buy it. Whats comfy for one person nit necessarily.depends comfy for another.
Wrong chairs can dig into your legs underneath or give you back ache lol

A lot depends on the storage you have available to cart the kit around and how/where you intend to use it. I have a selection of chairs and if I’m staying in one place for any length of time I take the lafuma copy as it is the most versatile and comfortable. It is however large so travels on the bed. If I’m touring I have a chair in a bag - a Quest wrap around is my chair of choice as it keeps the drafts off your back if sitting out at night.
On the table front the same applies - aluminium slatted that folds into a bag for touring and a larger composite one from B & Q or The Range when staying put.
Horses for courses I’m afraid!! Good luck.

We have yet to find a chair we really like but have lafima copies.
Tables...we have 2 sizes of the costco 'lifetime' range which are hardwaring and stowable... maybe a little heavy for some though

We went looking and found two really comfy reclining chairs. Never noticed the xl bit in the title. In our campscout they are stored vertically and they are close to the Ali bars that support the bed. CHECK sizes for your storage arangement.

We always used “chair-in-a bag” for our (short) trips in uk when we first started with a motorhome. Then when we went around Europe for several weeks, and spent more time outdoors in the sun; and socialised over drinks outdoors, we realised how bl**dy uncomfortable they really are. Bought two comfortable folding chairs mid-trip in a French caravan accessory shop....... and it was the best investment ever for our motorhoming enjoyment. (Now I could sleep outdoors after a glass too many!)

The one important thing for a table is to make sure it has adjustable legs otherwise it always be rocking. We have one that have large adjustment so it can be used for low table as well as dining table.

Chairs still seeking the right ones ourselves. But table we have found, it's big enough for 2 people to eat at height adjustable so can be low for drinks, bbq and high for sitting at. Very compact, easy to assemble and keep clean, but not for dancing on. I think ours is a quest but the same as link below

As an ex tugger, we are firm favourites of the Isabella range, we have two captains chairs for dining, two lounge chairs with feet extensions for relaxing and two tables, one for dining and a small stool with table top for drinks

Another vote for Isabella chairs. Extremely comfortable and fold completely flat.

Lafuma chairs are brilliant but expensive and bulky. If you can stretch to them and have the room they are well worth it.

I guess it all depends how u are going to organise u'r storage space under the bed. In our adria PVC the space is divided 1/3 - 2/3‘s shoes/clothes/towels/bedding for a month or so in big plastic boxes from the range.
Everything else in the other 1/3 so its chairs in a bag and so is table. We went for the type that have metal arms but still fold up quite small.
Comfortable enough to relax in and the right height for the table but not as good as the bigger rigid framed types noted above.
Its a compromise in a PVC and it depends how u are going to use it (week or month away) as to how much space is available.

we have this Robens Wafarers L table - not cheap but excellent quality, concertina folds up small - smaller than a leveller ramp), all legs are independently adjustable, beautiful finish and sturdy. the table fits under tthe dinette seat
and these Robens observer chairs, https://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/p/robens-observer-chair-D3112121.html?colour=122 which also fold up very small - these live in with our ramps in the rear hanging space under the bed

I wouldn't buy anything until you've got the van and can see where you're going to store them. Following unsuitable "recommendations" we're now on our third set of chairs, the previous ones, though being extremely comfortable were (a) too big; and (b) too heavy as well as too big! Sold the first pair, the second (Lafuma) relegated to use in the garden.

Currently we have a pair from Outwell, recliners with detachable footrests (bought separately) very comfortable, quite light, fit in the back box and are also easy to use with an outdoor table, which proved impossible with the other recliners. Bought ours from Go Outdoors, not cheap but compare well to the others.

As regards a table, we leave the standard Swift table at home as it's very heavy and use an aluminium slatted type which rolls up and fits in the original storage, along with a few other items.

We seem to break a lot of chairs, fat bastards I'm afraid. Most are lightweight aluminium framed. We bought a couple of steel framed ones from Homebase, only £35 each and these seem brilliant, rated at 110kg each and not a lot heavier than aluminium and fold really flat, unlike some we've had.
They recline quite far and we can use the footrests that came with the last chairs as they're the same height.

I agree with TerryL above, its best to get your new van home and pack it with the essentials then see what space you have left. When you move away from the stick type chairs they do take up lots of room and sometimes the places that first look to contain lots of storage are also home to a water heater / boiler or electrical box when taking a second look.

That looks interesting .. we had looked at this Amazon product ASIN B00BEVRQQK
But it doesn’t fold up so small.
