Haven't used our sat dish for ages, we live in Western France about halfway down, and when we tried recently it couldn't seem to fix on the satellite using Channel (correct terminology?) 28.
Is this because the satellite has changed?
Is it because the signal won't reach this far south (it used to, but that was ages ago....)?
In your experience, how far south does the signal reach?
Many thanks (any responses please keep it simple as tv technology and me just don't seem to get on )
Mrs S (but asking for Mr S lol)

They changed the UK satellite transmission foot print a few years ago

It would help if the OP advised what size dish they are using.

My 85cm dish is good for Astra 2, south of Bordeaux and close to the Spanish border.
I don't think it is as big as that, but as I'm a mere 5ft and only just recovered from a broken wrist from a fall I'm not tempted to check as I'm not that bothered about the tv (unlike MrS). Will see if I can get MrS to check, although he is more of a feet and inches man lol

You can pick up the UK channels on Intelsat 901 but your LNB & receiver need to be able to work at the higher frequencies it uses & you need the Biss code to crack it.
Technically illegal but thousands do it.

On our recent trip we just streamed didn't bother putting the sat dish up, all the catchup channels now have live TV on them.

In Correze we can pick up with an 85cm dish and are on a line with Brive to give you an idea of where we are .

Pretty sure ours is only a 60cm dish and these are my only options for satellites.

We can get French TV on Astra 19. Does anyone know if we can get UK channels on any of the others? I don't think we can here.
Are any of these satellites any good for UK channels in Spain?
TIA

My Galaxy phone acts as a hot spot for watching TV all over France,Spain and Portugal. BUSBY.

We just had a few days away (in France) and MrS binged on the rugby and we used nearly 40Gb. Panic! That was hotspotting and vpn so think that probably uses more, we are definitely gobbling up more than 1Gb per hour for streaming. He thinks he probably watched around 8 hours, plus I do facetime video the family quite a lot...
I've upped my phone data to 60Gb for France and 5Gb for Europe, but planning for a trip down to Spain soon so just thinking about all options

Astra 19 you can get BBC News, CNN and a few other news channels.

If you watch French channels (or any other country) on terrestrial TV English/American Films/Series & Programs, you can turn off the dubbing on your TV and have the original English soundtrack.

Thanks Lenny HB that's really helpful. I've managed to turn off the dubbing on our home TV on the French channels, but haven't worked out how to do that yet in the MH. Will have another try 🤞

With our previous 60cm dish, we still managed to pick up Astra 2 around the Bordeaux area. With the 85cm dish, we can get a signal at Teruel in Spain.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I reckon on a couple of gb s for a match when watching in Europe.I don't watch the tittle tattle before the ko,,Switch off at half time..but it does use more data than in the uk although
Vodaphone deny it.

I think you mean 907 Lenny not 901.
