Should be booking the tunnel later tomorrow for a trip down to Spain
Wont arrive at the tunnel until about mid night on Wednesday 13th November

Cant decide to either stay at Canterbury or any other suggestions for the night or go over to City Europe

Obviously wouldn't arrive at City Europe until about 130 am with the hour difference

Plus how safe is it that side right now and I guess it will be pitch black at the time with lights off

Thanks
GB

At that time I would cross the Channel and stay at Cité de Europe but we try to get to Canterbury P&R by about 1830hrs, have a nice meal at the Pub opposite, and catch an early morning, (say 0730hrs) crossing.

It relieves the worry of traffic jams on Britain’s crap Motorway system leading to a missed crossing.

At the time you are forecasting traveling, Canterbury will be closed. But crossing at midnight or a little later will offer the cheapest fares so IMO it's a no-brainer.

We prefer to start our travels in France after a reasonable night sleep so always go for an early evening crossing - if we miss it so what? They'll put us on the next available train.

I often do the late night crossing. Arriving at cite Europe is not an issue as all well lit. We just pull in, engine off and straight to bed. At least your there ready for the off next morning.
Can you even get in to Canterbury p+r that late ?

I think going over late that night is the best option
I might be bale to get there a bit earlier but not much
MH is in Vanbitz that day so plan to leave them and head for tunnel
Tunnel right now is £206 with tailer thats one way
Boom

Always cross first and then stop for a good nights sleep in Cite Europe. Leisurely rise in the morning get the bread and croissant for breakfast and off you go.. no contest as far as we are concerned.
As for safety, just search on here for topics on "Cite Europe" and you will see from the positive comments that you'll be safe there for an overnight

It's the only way for us wake up fresh in the morning and start the adventure

We stayed at cite Europe 2 weeks ago. Got off the tunnel at about the same time you will and it was very busy with motorhomes but very quiet with no problems. After a good nights sleep we were on our way. So I would recommend staying the night at Cite Europe ?

We like Cite d'Europe
despite the number of motorhomes there it's quiet
there's a semi constant Police presence for secuirty
then there's the restaurants at night and cafe's in the morning
Or simply get fresh croissants from Carrefour and brew some coffee in the van

We stay at cite Europe both on the night we arrive and the night before we go home. Never had any problems.

Definitely Canterbury! We drive down, have a quiet night and head for Dover.

Apprantly all kicked off at cite Europe with immigrants last night. I wouldn't rely on the police to act as security their not interested in the vans.

As you will be too late to get into Canterbury, my recommendtion would be to drive 20 minutes from Calais and stay at Wissant.
Its free and safe and the bonus is you can buy much nicer croissants from the boulangerie in the town.

Not sure I would recommend arriving at Wissant at that time of the night the last 3 or 4 times we have been through its been full by 6pm and nobody is going to thank you driving around in the middle of night looking for a space.

You could try Sangatte. Not far from the tunnel, right by the beach. We stayed for 1 night earlier this year and it was quite and peaceful.

Cite europe for me nice start in the morning plus its free :D and if you get a clingon i am sure he/she would like the weather further south ;)

We were at cite Europe a week ago, our first time ever in an aire, peaceful night, but in the morning the next door chausson owner knocked and said check your bikes, as they saw someone peering under our bike cover in the night, banged on their window and the scrote left.

We have stayed overnight at Canterbury and Cite Europe (got there at 02.30) both are fine. We have signed up to the Canterbury City Council scheme where their ANPR gizmo recognises your number plate and they take the money out of your bank account.

Have you got a link or details for that please.?

Boulangerie Louise opens at 0700hr and Carrefour at 0900hr (1000hr UK time). Had a coffee in there last time we were over, interestingly it was only French customers apart from us while Carrefour was its usual 50/50.

We have our dinner at the 3brasseries in cite Europe. good food at reasonable prices and beer happy hour 5pm till 7pm

Like I said not there ,it was on FB I can only assume the migrants were trying to access vans . Personally I wouldn't stop within an hour of calais but many people have stayed there without incident.
