Mum wants to buy 2 new lightweight reclining chairs, which ones can you recommend that aren't too big?
After much ordering and returning looking for comfort and size I ended up with

And one of these

We've got these Sandra.

Extremely robust, they even take my sylph like figure! :whistle2:
Dry out quickly if got wet.
Four individual legs which are easier to get stable rather than those with a bar along the ground.
They recline but are at a good height for using around a table as opposed to some others.
Adjustable headrest.
Not cheap, though.

We don't have a garage, just a broom cupboard [Burstner call it a Ski Cupboard, but pretentious, moi?] that is only 52cm deep; so we went mad, used the CAMC 15% Cotswold discount and bought a pair of Helinox Chair Two. Only £251 after discount, AND you have to rebuild them every time you want to use them! But they do weigh only 1.47kg each and will support 145kg, which is important for the larger framed male of the species [so much more elegant than 'fat old bugger' ...]

How much  ...Yikes! They don't even have arm rests on them, but if they work for you and you are happy to have paid that money thats all that matters.(y)

I never mentioned 'happy to pay', Sandra! It's one of the compromises to get a 5.99m van without a transverse bed etc. The broom cupboard will force us to be sensible with the packing, which helps to control payload, and we do have lots of lounge space. A small price [the compromise, not the bill for the chairs!] to pay, requiring 5 minutes max to set up and fold away to about 50cm x 15cm, plus a few expletives when they don't go in the bag first time ...

The chairs are very comfortable [but an arm rest WOULD have been nice!] and they will encourage me to use my hips when standing up. And cheaper than physiotherapy, honest!

Very similar to the above - but a heck of a lot cheaper.
Cascade Mountain Tech Ultralight

Ten pound coins cheaper than on Amazon.

Yes the Helinox are pricey. But under the bulk of my frame they work. Take seconds (If marchie takes 5 minutes that must surely include retrieval time from the storage) to assemble with the big advantage they roll up to a small cylinder so I can actually stow them in the under bench seats the standard folding seats would have to flap around in the van getting in the way if I didn't want to deploy them.

I've had too many cheaper chairs that have lasted a year and then collapsed. These do have 5 year warranty so are expected to last.

The Helinox do at first seem a bit weird, but the point is the tubing actually flexes with you. First saw them at the Birmingham Motorhome show and they were selling out. The seats sort of hug you especially those with the taller backs. Remarkably comfortable if you choose the right size.

Tried the out well one when we were looking but just not right height or seat length if your mum is a short a**e like me. Think ours are outdoor revolution but can’t be sure know they are not Kampa or Vango like i told someone else though.

Just replaced the wife's chair with a Decathlon own make, £35, weighs 4 kg and has a 110kg 'payload'. quality is just as good the the Outwell I have which cost nearly £100.

We had the same ski cupboard on our Pegaso 590. I put the biggest Fiamma box on the back. Sold it after 6 months as we just didn't get on with it, shame really as they're built very, very well and it drove beautifully on the Fiat 150 engine.

Just think, the combined 290kg your chairs give you is a greater load capacity than some vans payload!

Nice little van the Ixeo 590.

I've got the Trenton with the 200kg capacity. I weighed 155kg at the time of purchase, I'm now down to 139kg. Solid piece of kit, very comfy and as you say extremely robust. Yes they're a bit pricey but worth it.

We have these, excellent chairs. Normally about £100 each but often on offer for around £75. We paid £125 for two a couple of years ago.

Thanks, jonno. The van is lovely, it's just been marred a little by a duff Fridge Control Panel that has played havoc with the 12v system, causing loss of SatNav & Camera settings etc. New Panel should be fitted tomorrow, so we should be able to get a settled set up and begin to use the van properly rather than limping along!
