Been away and swmbo decided she needed an iron.
Here are the alternatives available
Left : 12V 5A needs a new plug
Middle :gas hob needs tlc
Right : 230 ac 500w no ehu need inverter (modified sine wave 600w ok? )
450w solar 220ah battery
Which option should i be thinking about.
Swmbo was worried about weight of middle one

It is you who should worry about the weight, for when it hits you:oops:

Iron? I wouldn't have space for one in my van, let alone the ironing board to go with it. If someone is worried that I've got creased T shirts, that''s their problem.

I thought exactly the same thing! :giggle: Mind you the pan of hot tomato soup could sting a bit!

At home Mrs Bob irons underwear, socks, sheets, T towels in fact she irons everything.
Only time she has ironed whilst travelling in a van was in Aussy in a nice laundry on a nice site that provided one.
Buy non crease items.

Why the f...... do you want an iron in a Motorhome?
We have spent the last 10 years in a MoHo, there is an iron in here somewhere but it hasn’t seen light of day for at least 2 years and if I remember rightly it was used for a shirt collar only!
Take time folding clothing, or as I do roll clothing up, seem to takes up less space and doesn’t crease as much!

Mrs Grasscutter lays items that she deems need ironing under the mattress overnight. It seems to work 👍

I have a small travel iron which doesn't 'travel'! :giggle:

However it does get used occasionally if I'm sewing and need to press a small/fiddly item which is easier than trying to do it with my larger 'home' one.

SWMBO swore off ironing when we are out several years ago !

When I was working away from home, my job required that I wear shirt, tie and neatly pressed trousers. I used a small travel steam iron, and a small ironing board with small legs that rested on a table.

I always stayed on sites with EHU, but I'd think that a 600W modified sine wave inverter would do the job.

Remember 500 watts is 42 amps at 12V, so it's draining your battery fast. But 20 minutes of that is only 42/3 = 14 amp-hours, so that's not too bad.

My toaster is 800w just to brown my bread. Is a 500w iron really going to do anything. ?

We use a lightweight travel steam iron on inverter, or to be accurate swmbo does. I consider ironing unnecessary.
I'm with you on unnecessary.
Which type of inverter do you use.and do you use other appliances.
Thanks for the most sensible reply to date, however, i did set myself up for some nonsense
The need for an iron is not mine and i wouldnt dare try to move an immovable object.
