After looking for a site in Northumberland I started with pitch up.
Spoke to some one today and said join ccc and stay on the cl sites.
But the ccc site makes no mention of them.
Then looked on camping and motor home even more expensive.
Can't make head nor tail of the web sites.
Can some one clarify in your opinion witch is the best and why.

Cl are Certified locations run in conjunction with the C&MC, CS are Certified sites under the C&CC both the same principle 5 van sites licenced by the clubs. Also Motorhome Fun has a few CL's.

Here is a link to C&CC info.

Wouldn't join any at the minute, they are cancelling the temporary holiday sites daily and the main sites will be booked solid for months 🙄

Either way it's reasonably easy to select on their sites. I tend to agree with the OP that all the various booking sites are confusing.

I thought this thread was going to be a very anti motor homing one. :ROFLMAO: So a pleasant surprise.

The Camping and Motorhome Club (CAMC) have a much bigger network of Certificated Location's than the Camping and Caravan Club ( C& CC) have of Certificated Sites.
They are all limited to 5 vans at any one time operate under Natural England exemption cerificates
The other difference afaik is that the C&CC freely welcome tent campers.
I think the CAMC probably has a bigger site network and about two years ago changed their banner name from "The Caravan Club" when they realised that motorhomes existed
Hope this clarifies
Mike

The pair of them have the worst sites on the web.
Slow and hard to navigate and can only type with one finger.
So if I'm saying that it must be.
One at 41 the other 54 pound to join do they have any members.
One of the camp sites was asking for payment by cheque for a deposit.
Pitch up mite not have as many sites but by is it fast and easy and free.

I'm a member of both, but mainly use CMC sites and CL's, and find the website and booking system a joy to use and I'm only 49!

Finding CL's by postcode and Google maps is the way I use it, and found some absolutely cracking sites over the years

What I prefer of CMC booking over CCC is that even in the height of season you can book one night on a site, whereas CCC it's a minimum of 3 nights

We've been in both the Caravan and Motorhome Club and the Camping and Caravan Club. We are now just in the Caravan and Motorhome Club. Our reasons for preferring the C & MHC include that we prefer the sites, both the CLs and the club sites.

We also like the insurance the C & MHC offer, especially the Red Pennant insurance for when we travel abroad. We had ordinary holiday insurance with them, as well, and we made a claim for over £3,000 when my gall bladder was poorly just before we were due to travel. They paid up without any problem at all. When we were on holiday in Spain, my husband was ill. The helpline for Red Pennant were extremely helpful.

I'll go against the grain here. I find the booking of the club sites on the C & MHC easy.

I'm a CCC member. Stayed on a CL maybe twice.
We go to the rally / temp hol sites / District meetings sites. Usually a field with water and both wastes.
Sometimes these sites are a fiver a night most around £10.
We have stayed in some lovely places with an actual campsite nowhere in sight. Best one was Criccieth field belonging to a large house right on the edge of the village.
Booking for these usually isn't required either.

We are members of both, easy to book online, you can pre book and with c&m you can cancel as long as it’s more than 3 days ahead.
We do find down south ( cornwall and cotswolds) we prefer c&m and north ccc tends to win, keswick is One of our favorites.
Also c&m give 10% off eurotunnel and ferries, plus you can book ahead for overseas trips. We also use asci for Europe.

The C&MC are currently offering £120 pounds worth of vouchers for £100 pounds.

Not everyone may agree but we are buying one set per month as finances allow. Things must get back to normal eventually. They are unlikely to refuse extensions to the booking dates if they are full as that would be the end for them. Sometimes you have to be optimistic!

And I am usually a pessimist.
