Do you need access to rear door/doors...towbar mounted racks provide stability without the need to be doing any lifting...💪

Unfortunately, there is nothing on the market that will allow me to mount bikes on my tow ball, and be able to open the back doors.

I’ve got a detachable tow ball, when fitted does not allow enough clearance between rack mount and bottom of the doors.

I’ve looked at all the manufacturers, but for now I have to take my Thule 2 bike rack off completely to open the doors.

If you have standard tow ball you are able to use a plate and spacers to give you more room. (y)

Thank jumar... After some extensive research and looking how difficult it appears to fit a door mounted bike rack I've decided to indeed go for a towbar mounted rack.. the ones from Witter Towbars seems to be the best for price and the lockable features are just what I'm after... thanks again :)

The door mounted racks are actually quite easy to fit. It's a couple of allen bolts and a bit of Sikaflex. Quite a weight saving over a towbar rack and you can open the doors without removing the bikes.

I'm about list an, as new, Black Thule Elite Van XT two bike rack for a Sprinter for sale in the Classifieds .........

The prices of these carriers are eye wateringly expensive. In my case I would have to get rid of my tow bar to accommodate this type of produce. (y)

The prices of these things is out of my budget.. more than I paid for both our bikes put together.. I think I'll just have to load them in the van for now.. : )

Make it a temporary measure...and secure well...the damage a bike can cause is not worth thinking about in the event of a front end crash....and internal damage to the van whilst loading/unloading....
Of course to have full use of the van whilst parked up requires unloading the bikes...you then have a bike security issue....all different issues to consider....🥴 Good luck..
