I have a 09 Dethleffs A6991 Advantage coachbuilt & would like an awning.
To go from the habitation door to other side of the main windows would require a 4m awning.

Looked at the Fiamma type on line - any good? Would it be madness to try & fit myself? Has anyone fitted their own?

Thanks
Jezzer

I had one fitted last year by Biggles (Johns Cross Motorhomes) in Shepton Mallett Show.

I did try and get a local quote, but its a 2 man job and I would not attempt it myself. It took about an hour and the cost of fitting was included in the price.

I for one would not attempt it on an 09 vehicle.

I thought it far easier to let the experts do it and sit back and watch...

I think the allmighty Z is about right there.

We did fit a 4 meter ourselve to our old RV BUT it took 4 off us and once I'd removed the old (knackered) Yank awning I was presented with an awnig rail so it was just a case of hooking it in, hence 4 bodies, one each end, one to hand up and one to give it a good shove to locate.

Simple thing to secure afterwards but as he said I think even I would err on the side of caution with a fairly new rig, esspecially as warrenties are likely to be affected.

As ShiftZZ has said it's a 2 man job, best done by the experts.
Why not get along to a show, Newark, Peterborough or Newbury where you can purchase your awning and have it fitted with the possibility of a "show deal".

If you give Darren a ring on 01-580-881288 he can tell you the pro's and cons about it.

We do offer free fitting at some shows we attend, but Darren wil tell you all about that.
