For a special Christmas Market, it has to be Hambourg where their Christmas and Sunday markets are renowned for being outstanding. I guess that Germany also celebrates Christmas with greater intensity than most countries and even have special Christmas shops like kathe wohlfahrt (http://wohlfahrt.com/en/christmas-stores) who's stores have to be seen to be believed. I would say Germany, the Xmas markets are brilliant, but I am biased, I love Germany. And beer and sausages, but I am sure there is no correlation! :D

Not sure, but the safest bet might be to stop at home after last night I'm afraid. :(

Went to Auchen markets last year and really enjoyed them but Denise spent loads of money in C&A's in Auchen and I had to carry it all back then walk to the markets again from the stellplatz

Brugge market is a good place to start or finish your journey we found a great cafe that had Carbonnade a la Flamande ( flemish beef stew). Joe

Hi,

I find the German Markets often just Beer & Bratwurst.

If you want a mix, try these three towns.

Valkenburg - Then you can get the train to Achen or try and get in and the Steplatz (you will be lucky if you do).

Then, after all the driving and walking around, visit Klein Vink and the thermal baths in Holland.

So you have a little mini tour. If you are driving through France, you have a nice easy three country tour.

PM me if you want more details.

I recall living in Birmingham after the pub bombings of 1974 and how many of us initially thought it wasnt safe to venture out but as another advised - if you succumb to the potential threat of terror and hide behind the lounge sofa then the terrorist will have won - so get out the house and continue to mix, socialise, share your life with others and show that they, the terrorists, can never win.
