Hi,
I am looking or somewhere to stay within about 30 minutes( pref north) of the tunnel at folkestone for the second week of October as we are coming over to see family in Lincolnshire and after 6 hours driving in France don't really want to face the M25, M11 and A14. :(
Any help appreciated.

3rd year and still enjoying it
Black horse farm. Caravan club site is literally a couple of minutes from the tunnel. Used it several times.

Why don't you stop over in France then drive off the chunnel and keep on going

the UK bit always spoils our time away, but encourages me to go back (y)

Hi Sally.
You can stay along Dover Seafront, or north of Folkestone in Canterbury New Dover Road Park and Ride, they have 26 spaces for motorhomes. It is worth staying 24 hours. Toilets available when buses are running, they have water and emptying, the charge is £3 but that includes the bus into Canterbury town centre. Only one problem, it is closed Sundays, you can get out but not able to enter on a Sunday. Hope that is useful.

Thanks everyone, Canterbury sounds good.
DavidG58 we live in France so as unlikely as it seems when we decide to come 'home' a couple of times a year we just have our 'brit 'heads on and want to indulge in everything that we miss ASAP.
Simple pleasures such as a good pub and curry but obviously not the traffic !!

I think it is open on Sundays now.
From the Council website.."The Park & Ride site opens at approximately 6am Monday to Saturday and 9am on Sunday and the entry barriers lock the site at 8:30pm. The exit barriers never lock so you can leave at any time with a valid paid ticket."

Sorry, but not so. There has been access on Sundays from about April of this year.

Wonder if it is permanent Sunday opening, or if it was for the Summer? Thought it stupid the Park and Ride was closed Sundays as Canterbury is popular at weekends.

If all else fails there's Stop24 services at M20 J11, which allows overnighting at a cost. Personally I'd go for Dover or Canterbury as mentioned above. Also, the pub next to Canterbury P&R is known to allow MHs to stop overnight in his car park if you go in and have a meal there. We've done that.

If you decide to go in to Canterbury there is an excellent Morrocan restaurant in the alleyway next to the Jack Wills shop. Excellent pork belly!
