Getting there!
We’re off to Jasmin next month and was hoping to get some feedback on where to eat close by, it will be our wedding anniversary on the Saturday so I can’t see us cooking.

I have looked at tripadvisor and although the Fat Seagull looks nice the managers responses to poor reviews is putting me off, have any members eaten there? Maybe Jim ?

We have stayed at Jim’s a few times and one time we booked the Fat Seagull for Sunday lunch at around 2 pm, when we sat down they said that they only had pork left as they had had a run on the beef. Not surprising when they were the same price. We left and went to the Grange and Links but Jim has said that that is shut now.
The daytime meals at the Fat Seagull look quite good so probably worth a punt.

Sandilands Golf Club is probably the closet to walk to, but only had a drink there. Waldo's fish & chips are worth a try. Not really a place to celebrate a WA but the W Mens Club on the road north just after the bend in the town does an excellent midweek carvery, always busy.

Every time I have looked on trip adviser I have found it more than useless.
People moaning about the most stupid things.. One woman had given a hotel a very poor 1 star. Because she did not like the RAIN !!!

I just read her answers.. Personally I reckon she is an up front honest lady who, like many on this very forum, does not suffer fools, scammers ( and you can spot them a mile off ) and professional complainers ! :-)
In fact I am gonna go out of my way to try the place when next in the area (y)

I thought similar but then, what if came to mind. If I had a genuine issue would it be the same in person?

Fat Seagull
I don't what it's like in peak season, but I found opening hours unreliable...
IMO it's a nice enough place for a lunch but I wouldn't be convinced about being a suitable location for a celebration.
What's in taxi range - the Sea Breeze, ok on TripAdvisor... ?

What celebration! :tmi:

Like me I see, SWMBO does not go on the forum.

However, their mates do, and they will clat on you.

It can get quite painful after that.

I am told though that Sian will keep quiet, but I think it’s a top class bottle of plonk to secure that silence though.

You can catch the bus at the end of the road and either go into Sutton on Sea or stay on it and go to Mablethorpe which is only 2 mile down the road. Nice Italian restaurant there which we have used in the past and may do this weekend as we are booked into Jasmin for Friday and Saturday night.

Sutton village itself is 1.2 Miles (from gate to mini roundabout). I know because I measured it as I am a lazy ***** and wanted to see if it was what I consider a walkable distance.

Jim is probably the best person to report on eateries. However, if you are prepared to stump up for a taxi there are loads of goods ones in the area.

Beach bar, waldo's chippy eat in or take away, Bacchus Hotel
Had a meal at the Beach Bar a couple of weeks ago, not bad at all, also had the fish and chips at Waldos a few times.

The wife has since read the trip advisor responses and crossed the fat seagull off so will definitely be eating elsewhere!
