Hi all
Looking at getting a couple of new solar panels for our new van. I bought the ones for thelast couple of vans from Photonic Univers and they have been very good and a decent company to deal with but I’ve found a company called Sunshine Solar and they look the same panels but at a cheaper price, both say they are German cells and both have 5m of cable. Has anyone bought from this company and where else have people bought from?
Thanks

both say they are German cells and both
The last factory to make cells in Germany closed down years ago about 10 years ago I think , all cell are now made in China.
just buy the cheapest on ebay never had a problem just
I have two good ones and one cheap one.
The cheap one has a lighter smaller section frame and the output is 5% less.

The last set I put on were 2 x 120watt at £120 each and they worked well. I have seen the 180watt ones at £180 but I’ve got an fairly expensive 350W MPPT controller so the 2 of them at 180 would exceed the rattling, they sell the 160W panels at £160 on a regular basis so I will probably go for two of them it’s just where from.
Thanks

I know some controllers will just drop any excess wattage they can't use if you overload them so 360W into a 350W controller may not be a sticking point, check the spec of your controller.

OK l'll rephrase that all "silicone" solar cells are made in China. :giggle:

I bought a 160w panel from Sunshine Solar about a year ago for £120. Has been fine. It was exactly the same width as the previous panel, but quite a bit longer, and it fitted perfectly between the aluminium brackets. I was even able to use the same SS screws.

I go to Penang often, apart from Electrolux most businesses are Chinese owned or managed.
My friends tell me it's now almost impossible to out bid a Chinese buyer on property deals.
I believe the boat has sailed and we are stranded in a new Chinese empire.
What goes around comes around, no doubt the Chinese said almost the same as us, for that matter India also.
Did you note the conditions of the UK India trade deal? If not look at the small print of VIP UK entry.
Its not a disaster merely a natural cycle, as a great philosopher once said, Look at the rear view to see the road ahead.

Rather than sleepwalk into it I would prefer to source goods elsewhere. If we all do it then they will not succeed.

A 180W panel output is in optimum conditions. Stuck on your van roof they won't put that much out unless you visit the Sahara in June. 2x 180W will be fine with that MPPT.
