Title says it all.
Halfords have given various excuses ... machine broken, run out of paper .....
So any recommended online suppliers?
Thanks,

Plenty of sellers on ebay. When I had a company car, I didn't have access to the V5 document, but was still able to buy a plate on ebay for my bike rack.

To be fair, Halfords have just changed their number plate making equipment to one with a metal backing and a sort of sticker on the face which operators in store are unhappy with.
In the store I work at, nobody has managed to successfully make a flaw free plate as there appears to be a problem with the new kit creating a line of trapped air bubbles.
So, rather than fob customers off with plates that are not perfect, operators will tell you that there's a problem of some sort and not all colleagues will have been told the specifics.

That's where I go.
A year or two ago you could buy a "show plate" from a number of eBay sellers. If you specified a road legal show plate that's what you got - a plate manufactured to the applicable standards. You did not, however, have to send any documentation because it was, after all, a show plate. It seems that loop hole has been closed (probably by eBay) so AFAIK there are no eBay sellers offering that service. I used it for trailer plates. Now you have to send to the eBay sellers the original documents making it much more convenient to go to Halfords or any local Motor Factor.
