I want to change my lead acid to gel batteries but all the big suppliers have limited choices. Where holds the biggest range of Gel leisure batteries?

1st question as you have a Swift does the charger have a proper Gel profile otherwise they will only get an 80% charge Gel's need a long absorption phase.

Another vote for Tayna.

That’s something I will have to look into.I have a SargentEC450 power supply unit with a Votronic 350 mppt for my solar panel. Has the Sargent got the proper profile to deal with gel?

Contact Sargent for anything technical as opposed to Swift or its dealers.

The Votroinc has a Gel setting the Sargent unit is not suitable.

Thank you Lenny HB so would the Sargent support AGM’s. I know your not a fan.
Would I be able to change the charge control box,and would it be much of a lob and expensive ?

I wouldn't they have told other people they are fine on Gel but they are not.

Not properly but you would be better off fitting decent flooded batteries like the Varta LDF range.
If you want to go with Gel, Photonic Universe do a reasonable 20amp charger for under a £100 or 15 amp Victron for £140.

I was led to believe, and still do, that there is no practical advantages in using GEL batteries over flooded ones. There only advantage is their anti spill qualities in the event of a crash, which I believe was the reason for inventing them! As mentioned earlier, VARTA LDF might be a better choice, and the money saved on another charger could pay for bigger ones.

Big advantage of Gels is you can discharge down to 20% DOD and still get a long life. Also a 10 year life for Gels is quite normal.
