Where have you positioned your emovis/liber-t/telepeage tag on your windscreen?

Autotrail Apache 632
Exp
Since Sept 2019
We have a 2012 Autotrail 632 Apache with a Luton style overhang above the windscreen. I’ve just received our E-movis telepeage tag for use at the toll booth on French motorways this summer. I don’t have a black mottled area on the windscreen behind where the rear view mirror should be. Assuming you have the same or a similar MoHo where have you sited the tag on the windscreen and actually proved that it works at a toll booth?

TIA!

Russ

Ours is a A class and the tag is situated in the middle at the top.
If you’re not sure with an overhang you could have a passenger hold it against the screen until you’re sure it can be read -then use the sticky pad.

We place ours in a bag on the dashboard so it isn't a tempting target for scrotes.

ours is stuck on the window screen just above the dash board, we tried it in blacked out area at the top but it did not work correctly, i think the overhang was masking the signal

TCG,
Do you have any problems with the height of your MoHo when going through the toll booths? Looks like you have an Autotrail Delaware which I guess is a similar height to our Apache. Does it have a speckled black area where the rear view mirror should be? Your Delaware is a bit newer than our Apache and I'm wondering if it has a difference style of windscreen?

Cheers!

we have had our tag for about 4 years the problem we had in the beginning was if you place the tag where they advise the cab overhang masks the signal so sailing through was a bit hit and miss, we repositioned the tag further down just above the dashboard and had no problems since... we are 8 metres and 3 metres high, and we tow a toad and never had a problem with the class 2 tag... if on the very rare occasions we are stopped at the booth we just say "camping car" and they have always let us through (i have probably just put the kiss of death on that now  )

We do tend to go through the 30km fast lanes, but without the height barriers

TCG,
Thanks for your rapid response!
Very interesting that you have a Toad, so do we, a Toyota Aygo. We decided to hire a car when we get to Beziers this summer rather than take the Toad. There have been LOTS of naysayers on here painting pictures of illegality and fines and hassle from the Gendarmerie, I'd be interested in your experiences to take into account when we are planning our next Euro jaunt.

Once again Thanks In Advance!

we travel to France at least twice per year (except last 2 years ) and have always taken the toad, never had an issue. Once we were stopped by police as the road ahead was closed due to a RTA... the polices officers helped me unhitch the car and then "banksman" me to help reverse and then even helped re hitch the toad....
Choice is yours. i will continue to toad in France

We have just bought our Emovis tag for our Apache 632. It is rated as 3.02m high (I thought it was less than 3m hence buying the Tag) but now I am concerned about some people saying that is above class 2 height. What was your experience using the tag lanes. We are going to Spain and Portugal so not sure if they are different than France.

Our A-class has an over cab bed, so nowhere obvious to put it. I thought the reader would be in a gantry looking down at the passing vehicles at an angle, so I just stuck it to the dash near the screen. The read rate was very poor.

Having my wife wave it at the barrier like she's trying to ward off a poltergeist with a crucifix is both amusing and effective. 😁

I have just spoken to Emovis and they suggested to put it below the rear view mirror, but not at the bottom. If it is basic windscreen it should work. If it doesn’t just hold it out the window as you suggest. He also said to drive right up to the barrier, not short of it.
I guess it is just trial and error.
Thanks for the reply.

I have an A-class, used to have it at the top side but was hit and miss. Top centre works every time.
Agree with other comments though, don't stick it until you've tried it manually holding in different places, then decide.

Our A class tag axle it's positioned in the middle of the screen but at the bottom as it's a massive screen. Never had any issues with the mango tag through France or Spain. Where I can I always use the 30kmh lanes but if not then right up to the barrier is sometimes required but it's always worked. Don't be frightened to get within a few centimetres of the barrier on some. Our motorhome is a tag axle towing trailer with car on and just over 3m high with objects on the roof.

You can see our tag holder/clip just in front of the mirror
It's worked perfectly there for two years

Just filled up with LPG at Morrisons at Ipswich !

I am sure it says for overcabs position the tag lower down the screen near the dash

We have had 115 and 175 Elddis' and both have the Emovis at the top of the windscreen. I slide it out of the little plastic bracket when not using it which to be honest is most of the time. I also use mine on the bike and have it in the top pocket of my jacket.... it works on there as well and unless tailgated it gets me class 1. Sometimes have to appeal when it picks up a car up my chuff....

We have an A class and ours is in the middle about 6 inches from the top. Works perfectly in France.

On our Burstner IT 624 Plus, behind the mirror. It's scary but Drive at the barrier at the prescribed speed, it'll lift (well that's what I kept telling myself)....

To be tested in various positions in September on the Sprinter PVC.

Cheers

SteveMcC, We have an Apache 632 like you. I stuck it where the tax disc used to go, bottom of the passenger side windscreen. Works 1st time, every time. We use the fast lanes, roll up to them at around 10-15 mph and the barrier shoots up when we are around 10 metres from it. We’re taking our toad to the Loire Valley last two weeks of June this year. Not expecting any hassle.

Cheers!

We had a Tracker EKS rated at the same height and had no problem using the tag. We always opt for the tuck barriers.

We never spoke to anyone just drove to the truck barrier. Remember that for Spain & Portugal you'll need the Via Tag from the same place up here in Harrogate as Emovis.
