this is something I’d love to do.. once my health improves I’d like to go to both Tenerife and Gran Canaria in my van. Can you advise what the ferry crossing was like, was the food good, was the cabins tidy and clean?
Where did you book the ferry and is the canaries part of the Schengen? How did you do 7 months?
Love to hear a full rendition of the trip.. I think lots of people would on this site.. I would do 5 months, 2 weeks getting there and 2 weeks back and 2 months on each island…
I assume you are asking me.
The ferry was fine and the food quite good - all food and soft drinks is included in ticket price free for the whole crossing, pay for alcohol drinks. I booked direct with Fred Olsen. I rejected Armas, but only because they would have arrived, even if on schedule, just before midnight and I did not fancy trying to find the campsite at that time.
Canaries is part of Spain, so is Schengen. We live in Schengen, and although I have Residency in Poland I am not supposed to be outside Poland for more than 90/180. Schengen has no internal border checks so it is effectively an unenforceable rule.
If you are a non-Schengen passport you cannot do more than 90/180. you could do 90 days, then park the MH, fly back for 90 days and out again, but that might fall foul of the rule of having to re-register the MH after 6 months.
