On the, recently upgraded, aire at Beaulieu sur Dordogne and decided that we would avail ourselves of the 4hrs of electricity for €2 from the Flot Bleu posts.

Despite, I believe, following the instructions, no amps whatsoever were to be had.

1: Cable inserted into socket number 3 and silver button above socket 3 depressed.

2: Jeton inserted
3: Validate silver button depressed
4: No electricity dispensed!

Where did I go wrong?

Checked the distribution board in the motorhome and all breakers were in the correct position.

Maybe the socket is just not working.
Had a similar experience with a Spanish guy in Germany - he had followed the instructions but no sparks. Used another socket and he paid again and he was fine.
Don't know why he asked me to help - not enough Spanish or German or English between the pair of us to converse.

I know it's a bit late, but I always carry an adapter from blue 16A plug to UK 13A socket, and a UK mains socket tester (I got mine at B&Q):

Plug it into the post to check the supply is available.
If OK, plug into MH end of cable to check cable is good.
If OK, plug into a socket inside MH to check breakers are on etc.

You can show the problem clearly to yourself and anyone else that might not otherwise be totally convinced.

And I know I am even later but ...

some of these posts need you to turn the plug a quarter or similar turn to actually switch the power on. I found out the hard way at the old now gone Camping Municipal site at Chartres.

May be your solution in the future

I had wondered about that also but that didn't seem to be the problem.

I normally carry a DVM but, Sod's law being Sod's law, I (erroneously) left it at home on this trip!

Tried using a different socket to no avail!

It's come out on strike in sympathy with the French!
