How about starting a 'where am I / where's my van' thread.
Here's my contribution, originally posted as part of a thread on sat dishes, which is obviously the wrong place.

Allen

Morning Jim
I'd forgotten about the existing forums, and you're correct, it's UK but not Eng.

Fortunately they're telescopic and the 5 metre dia sat dish folds up like the very old flash reflectors on a camera. And Im a chinaman (from oop north were it's grim).

Wrong ! A classic mistake, I'm standing behind the camera and that's my lovely wife Eileen in front of the van.

Port Logan, Wigtownshire. Too easy for me as I only live a few miles away. Did you have a pint in the Inn, usually has a couple of real ales on tap.:thumb:

Spot on Bill. We stayed at the cl top of the hill, fantastic views. And yes, we had a few in the pub, the locals stared at us all night and tried taking the pi2s a few times, but I gave as good as !

I think I'll try another of these in France.

Hi Allen,

Lovely spot, we walk the dog on the beach quite often. About the locals, this is the area the filmed Wicker Man years ago, so be careful out there.

Have you travelled any further up the west coast?

Had many happy hols in Dumfries and Galloway. Travelled the coast from Newton Stewart up to Ayr and all points between when the foot and mouth was on the go and you couldn't walk the forests. If you are still in that area try a day out at Culzean Castle. :thumb:

Hi Bill
didn't know about the wicker man, that may explain it !
It was 2 years ago, we set of for Skye, as we passed the lakes I could hear Keswick singing to us so we stopped there for a w/e, then set off again for Skye. We seemed to be travelling all day before she said I've had enough, turn left, we're going to the coast. We ended up in Ayr, at the CC site. Superb week there then headed back south down the coast, hence the pic.
Will try Scotland again, possibly sooner than later with the current euro exchange rate.

Allen

Glad you enjoyed our part of the country, its very quiet up here as we are so far from the motorway. We go up the west coast at least once a year, some great scenery up there. One tip though, when heading north do not follow the road all the way up the side of Loch Lomond, go via Inverary and Loch Awe. The road north of Tarbet is really too narrow and very, very busy. Not much difference in the mileage and much quieter roads.

We were recently over to Skye, weather was awful as usual but that didn't spoil our enjoyment. reasonable site at Uig, pub two minutes away with local ale.

Rgds Bill
