Converted caravanner!
Off at the weekend for a couple of weeks to Devon. Do I take the cover, or leave it at home.
I reckon it’s still just warm enough, but wandered what the funsters do?

I have used mine since last week but always carry them both inside and out, not used the external yet
They are also good privacy screens

We use the blinds if it’s very warm of a night or just for privacy . The silver screen get used the most as they stop any condensation forming . Plus they Keep the heat out when it’s red hot through the day too.

I never use them, even in December and January. I like to see out, perhaps I am a little claustrophobic. I use a window vac to clear up any condensation.

We use our external cover all year round and we back this up by closing the Remis blinds as well.
We have the mesh front panel on our external cover which is great for letting in light during the day plus you can have a giggle at tuggers antics without being seen. :giggle:

read on here sometime ago about the see through ones but i can't find out where to get them ,have the polar tec ones but the boss say's they are a bit claustrophobic, don't bother me so if anyone knows where i can get them could you let me know , thanks

We have our external screens on all year round. Helps keep the heat down during hot times, and keeps the cold out when temps dip. Also stops cab seats and trim from sun bleaching. Win win.

Taylormade taken 30secs ago.

Used mine last weekend and glad I did. What's the downside?

The only downside is removing them in the pouring rain or snow and then having to put them somewhere for travelling. We’ve just got a PVC so have to confess that if we’re on hookup and the forecast is dreadful for the day of travel we will remove them and try to get them dried off and packed away otherwise they are a pain if they are dripping away in the loo. That’s the only one I can think of as they only take a few minutes to put on and make such a difference to the warmth of the cab end.

They spoil the view when you open the blinds in the morning.
There is no view when the windows are running in condensation with loads of moisture going down into the back of the dashboard doing who knows what damage before you can dry it all up though. 🤔

But guess what, you can’t please all the people all the time.

Still lets the daylight in and quickly cleared up with a window vac.

We are just thinking of getting a set of silverscreens. The internal blinds on our rapido A class are a right faff to open and tie back every morning plus I wonder about sticking a foot or elbow through the side window blinds in the drop down bed and terminally denting them. Still not sure about them, its another thing to store when not using them.

We stand them up in the shower in their bag.

But how much has gone down the back while you are asleep? Can drop down the top half of mine in 30 secs if I was that bothered, but got other windows to look through and can always go outside. It's inevitably a trade off but I could have the cover off in the time it took me to vac.

I guess it depends very much on which conversion you have, if you are in one that has the lounge right at the front utilising the driver/passenger seat then fitting an exterior screen cover could make it feel like you are sitting in a cupboard whereas with lounge at rear you probably wont think about seeing out of the front 🤔
My exterior one dries very quickly

Folks,

Have said before and at the risk of unwelcome repeating.

Isn't it really good we are all different, what a boring world it would be if not. Nothing to learn or moan about etc etc etc.

Within reasonable parameters we are all entitled to live as we like. Those reasonable parameters IMHO include, minimal/no impact on neighbours (at home or away), no impact on law abiding society, Minimal impact on the environment (Have a motorhome so can't say none). In general adopt the moto, "Do as you would be done by"

Sorry sounds like some sort of mission. Just don't understand the mind set that thinks FU to everyone else.

Allegedly "We are all in this together" So don't irreverently dismiss someone else's take on an issue/topic

Mine gets used if we are anywhere for more than 3 nights.. Never really noticed any temperature advantage after deployment but its good for privacy.. They live in the van all the times

We have the external Taylor made screen cover and bonnet cover . We use the screen cover all year round . I like the privacy at the front but I can understand others prefer the view 👍🏻

interesting replies, my main concern was if we didn’t use it, it would take up valuable space. I do like lots of light so wouldn’t put it up just because we brought it with us. Plus the evenings are fairly mild, so wasn’t sure we’d get much condensation yet.
