changing a load of things again
just thinking if i am going to change or upgrade any tech in my van whats the consensus in adding to the insurance. yes the stock answer will be you MUST tell them. I suppose if people post picks on here they must be telling them right?

If you do the work yourself does this make it an issue?

  1. acid to lithium
  2. underslung LPG tank
  3. reversing sensors
  4. 100ah to 300ah
  5. add solar 400w of panels
  6. 2000w inverter
  7. rear air assist suspension
  8. front stiffer springs

Did you tell them you hadn't these fitted when you first insured it?
All I was asked was make model and year.
If it had an approved alarm and reverse camera
They asked engine size but were not interested in hp

thanks
makes sense

I would tell them about converting to Lithium as the increased risk of fire would affect premiums

It must depend on the van you have we are doing a home conversion The insurance is only interested in a valuation by a surveyors report but the proof in the pudding will really only find out in the event of any claim

LiFeP04 are probably the safest form of battery for a Motorhome.

Only thing I would inform them of would be the suspension mods.

Sorry.. don't agree with your "increased fire risk" statement.

I tell them everything. They just acknowledge but no change to prices etc. The big change comes if you need to claim - " Oh dear! You didn't tell us you fitted this and that. Sorry your policy is invalid"
