A quick question to the knowledgeable, are the 15 and 16 inch wheels interchangeable on the ducato/boxer model of 2001?

I don't think so.
Some research shows the PDC is different, the distance between bolts/studs.

Both are 6j offset profile and 5 stud but 15" are 118mm apart while 16" are 130mm apart.
But I accept both myself and Google can be wrong.

It was only a quick search so other engine sizes may have different size wheels in the same production years but the search isn't that fast to look at every year and engine size.
I can't imagine they would make the same wheel with multiple PDCs though.....not cost effective.

15in wheels across all the Ducatos up to present use the same PCD. 16in wheels fitted to the Maxi chassis variants prior to the latest chassis used a different PCD. The latest chassis' 16in wheels use the same PCD as yours.

Check the pcd, this is the diameter of the imaginary circle the fixing bolts sit on. Expect it to be either 118 or 130mm.

The way Fiat speedos over read it will probably make it more accurate.:D2

Also when buying after market wheels check the load rating most are much lower than OEM ones. When looking for a spare for the new van I found all the after market ones were rated at 1000kg not much good with a rear axle rated at 2500kg.

The PDC is different between the lightweight chassis and the Maxi. I know this as a fact.
I would presume you can buy 15 or 16" wheels to fit the lightweight chassis but you would need the correct PCD

I only have some limited knowledge of this subject because a while ago l wanted to change my 15" wheels for 16" wheels. My van is a 2010 Hymer B584 on a Maxi chassis. Hymer, in their high-quality German manner, decided to create a hybrid. I assumed that because it was the Maxi chassis fitting the "correct" 16" wheels would be straightforward. Not so. Hymer had fitted non-Maxi hubs as well as the matching 15" wheels. So Maxi 16" wheels wouldn't fit my hubs. It was then that l researched PCDs for the various Ducato chassis from 2010 onwards and found that the most recent chassis use the same PCD as the 244 and earlier non-Maxi. So it appears that there are only two Ducato PCDs. And AFAIK the ALKO chassis uses wheels that match those at the front so the same will apply. In fact, again AFAIK, the ALKO chassis uses Fiat rear hubs.

Surely if you get lower profile tyres to match, the circumference will be (roughly) the same and the speedo will be fine/just as bad.
lower profile tyres with the correct weight rating? hens teeth I believe you will find

i know it is common to see vw t4 and t5 vans with large alloys and low profile tyres, but it just doesnt work with coachbuilt or a class fiat ducatos. just way too heavy

I ordered a spare wheel for our van a few years ago off ebay but came from Germany (delivered in two days by GPO). It was a 15inch and they rang me to measure the stud centres as there were two different sizes lol
